Life sucks and then you die

Kidnappings, torture, rape-all in a day's work for the local insurgent. And for the most part, one can do nothing. The two witness rule laughs in your face as these things happen. One week ago, two women were captured, beaten, coached through a confession, executed, with their bodies left in the desert. All of this on video. These people are animals. What do you do? What can you do? Nothing really. Just come to the conclusion that life really sucks for some people, and again, no matter how bad your personal situation is, there is always someone else who's worse off.

    Allah Akbar-yeah, right.

Religion is an excuse for violent, animalistic people to demonstrate their true nature while pretending they have noble motives. I can't even imagine how bad it must be to deal with this sort of thing every day.

How much longer are you going to be there, troucul?

My mother used to say, "Life sucks and then you die!" all the time and I have to say... this is negative thinking. We have to think positive if we're going to succeed in this world.

Howdy troucul, you said, "...no matter how bad your personal situation is, ...there is always someone else who's worse off." How true!

Welcome Cami! While the statement "Life sucks and then you die!" is often true, adopting it as an attitude toward life can definitely stifle a person from being all they can become. W

"Most people think life sucks, and then you die. Not me. I beg to differ. I think life sucks, then you get cancer, then your dog dies, your wife leaves you, the cancer goes into remission, you get a new dog, you get remarried, you owe ten million dollars in medical bills but you work hard for thirty-five years and you pay it back and then -- one day -- you have a massive stroke, your whole right side is paralyzed, you have to limp along the streets and speak out of the left side of your mouth and drool but you go into rehabilitation and regain the power to walk and the power to talk and then -- one day -- you step off a curb at Sixty-seventh Street, and BANG you get hit by a city bus and then you die. Maybe."

Nice to hear from you. I think about you often and send a prayer for your safety. Yah, so much for liberating Iraq.
