dont even wanan think ABOUT IT... more ways to blind the public and pretend we really are looking out for the good of the flock... how to ignore pleas for help, and how to punish those who make them....GOD DAMN THEM ALL!

Are you thinking of this thread, jgnat?

In the US the elders schools tend to be scheduled around Thanksgiving (11/24 this year with the school perhaps the following Sat/Sun 11/26-27) and Christmas with the theory that it is easier to get time off then or they just schedule them on the holidays, 12/24 and 25 are a Saturday and a Sunday this year.

    Cellist,

There was a thread recently on Oral Sex (being a young man I had to read it).

I don't want to blow my own trumpet (pun intended) but it was mentioned that the Nov 1st W.T has a footnote sending you to the W.T 83 6/1 or 3/15 (can't remember which, but they're both mentioned in the Elders book).

The change, small though it may seem is under Porneia, originally it reads

"Por-ne-ia" involves immoral use of the genitals of (at least one human), the brackets have been crossed out and "new point" is written by the side quoting the 2000 W.T.

I asked my dad how this can be a new point when the 2000 W.T specifically guides you to the 83 W.T which of course there was no answer to.

All seems rather petty but it's pretty important to me as I have a dear friend (who is a witness) who is deeply in love but is unable to marry as the person she is in love with hasn't commited adultery so has no scriptural grounds for a divorce.

What about the spouse of that person who hasn't committed adultery? Has the spouse committed adultery?

No neither of them have commited adultery. They're seperated, have been for a couple of years (both witnesses).

I can never reconcile that rule in my head...They were both extremely young when they married and it was an obvious mistake yet they have to be punished forever?

Another question I can't quite get my head around is this.

If you get an unscriptural divorce and then remarry you're ds'p, do you have to stop sleeping with your new spouse before being reinstated?

Would you not be commiting adultery everytime you slept with them?

Sorry for the vagueness of my responses, I've written nothing more challenging than a talk for a while so I'm used to not making sense.

No the re-marriage while unscriptural is legal and the elders would consider it permanent. You would not have to stop having sex with your new spouse in order to be re-instated. In fact, that would be violating the "scriptural" admonition not to be depriving your mate or they you of sex except by mutual agreement.

So they are legally married to each other but separated. Usually, someone takes the hit and commits adultery and takes a chance on being "df'd" rather than reproved. Or at least confesses to having done it.... I know a JW that did that, confessed to the elders that he had an affair with a woman at work (he hadn't), so his wife could get a scriptural divorce. He was df'd, re-instated a year later and married another sister from another congregation. His ex-wife mean time had married another brother in the circuit. Of course, the WTS would say that the brother was deceiving God and his spiritual future was still in jeopardy although reinstated.

That's what I thought. My dad has been an elder for over 30 years, done numerous JC and didn't know!

I've told him to pretend he's committed adultery but alas he clings onto "the truth" (and he's read COC).

Guess some people like being unhappy.
