I lift, but free weights only really.

and as a male just doing strength training, I dont have much to offer you.

There is a book I have called, "Sculpting her body perfect" by Brad Schoenfield. He is a personal trainer in Scarsdale, NY. It is from 2000 but if you have a newer Universal Gym you should be able to do any of the exercises in the book. As far as online I wouldn't know where to look.

As soon as I meet with a trainer at my gym, I'll let you know what I'm told.

    For now...

    Hi orbison

I have trained several women in powerlifting. but not bodybuilding.

So, I really can't help you unless you wish to powerlift. Powerlifting I know, bodybuilding I don't.

If you can't find a trainer there are plenty of excellent books out there. Go to Google, type in female bodybuilding champions then go to their sites and have a look at the books they are selling. Thay all sell training manuals. Pick the manual of the gal who looks best to you.

I highly recommend HIT (High Intensity Training.) I know it sounds hard core, but after a lifetime of doing it the muscle magazine way, I'm convinced that HIT is the common sense answer for people wanting to transform their bodies by adding more muscle and losing fat. It requires much less time in the gym, actually reduces the risk of injury. You'll find a great deal of information online, but I recommend reading whatever you can get your hands on by Ellington Darden.

Confession, absolutely. HIT is the creme de la creme. Good advice. If you have some pics, post them here.

Well, I'm from the Eugene Sandow generation myself. I remember when Dan Lurie was just a tyke...

Not really. Dave Draper, Larry Scott, Bob Gadja, Franco Columbo and his Austrian friend; they were some of the superstars of bodybuilding back when I was interested. I agree with Confession: HIT is the result of real-world research by real people and not a merchandising recipe by some guy who wants to sell you corn meal and call it "golden protein blend." Ellington Darden's books are good, and Mike Mentzer was doing his "Heavy Duty" version of HIT when few others were willing to. Steroids are a great shortcut to abnormality and an early death.

Are you doing this for you, or do you want to become a bodybuilding star?

I recently saw a little documentary about a female bodybuilder. the title was "Supersize She" and it was pretty honest, I thought. But I don't mean to scare you off from the positive healthy aspects of working out. You can "invent" your own exercises by thinking about how the muscle groups or individual muscles move, and looking for full range motions that will work the muscle groups. A universal gym will allow you to do all but the most specialized movements, and many of them can be improvised. How much background or training information do you already have?
