Well when Thursday morning arrived and we were told the news that the Brooklyn Picketing had been cancelled, We were upset and disappointed, but we decided to go on with a plan "B". Amanda,Evelyn,Sybil, and I decided to ride up to Walkill NY and visit the Watchtower Farms and also Patterson. We drove up to Walkill first and I must say that the size of this complex was enormous, and reminded me so much of a prison complex, they even had their own water tower. We drove all around the complex and the surrounding area. We noticed the dump trucks with Kingdom Support Services written on the side. We also saw a street called paradise lane-LOL. Well they had a sign on the main building that said visitors information center, so we decided to walk inside and see the displays. When you walk in the lobby they have a TV area with a video playing that shows the new system and also a New World Translation bible. I wanted to be a little more clandestine, but Sybil immediately started dropping hints that we were Apostates by telling them we were in town for the Witnesses now for Jesus Convention. The next thing I know Sybil, Amanda, and Evelyn are being escorted from the building. I quickly follow behind them. Sybil and I both were able to pick up some free souvenir brochures. It was hilarious, and I got pics of Sybil exiting the building. Next we went on to Patterson, but I will have to tell more about that later as other people are waiting to use this computer. Check this thread later for the details of Patterson. Dave

I saw on the news yesterday that Walkill is under water because of all the rain we have had here in NY. Did you notice any buildings under water at the Walkill branch?

    Thanks for the tip Johnnycip.

To TopHat- No I didnt notice any flooding at Walkill, although it was very rainy and the local rivers were up.

Ok here's the scoop on the Patterson picketing:

Anyway after leaving Walkill we decided to head over to Patterson. Once we arrived at Patterson we were just a little too late for the tour. We pulled up the driveway and there was a guard shack. So I pressed the button and a female voice said "may I help you?" So I told her we were just stopping by to visit and see the facilities. She then told me to hold on and then a male said "how can I help you" I told him the same thing that I told her. He then asks my name and my congregation, I told him that Im not a JW but my family is. He then told me we could come back tomorrow and take the tour.

Well we turned around the car and switched drivers, and I let Evelyn drive. We pulled out of the main entrance and then we had Evelyn pull over to the side of the road, then Amanda, Sybil, and I exited the car and pulled a big picket sign out of the trunk that had the silent lambs logo on it. We then proceeded to make pictures right next to the Patterson sign. We then started walking up and down the road picketing, and letting every passing car see our sign, at the same time pointing toward Patterson. We only picketed for about 10 minutes, but we enjoyed every minute of it. I have to stop because this computer is a shared computer here at Blue Mountain. I will post more when I get back to Tennessee.

I am glad you kept it fun. Here in Alberta, our telephone company picketers are looking downright miserable in the rain.

You know the old saying "when life hands you a lemon, then make lemonade" Well thats what we did, as we were able to salvage the day, and have fun too despite the rain and the Brooklyn cancellation.

Could you expand upon the video about the 'new system'? or is it just the basic showing of happy family, two kids, panda bears and such? thanks

Actually the scene on the video was just your average run of the mill paradise scene, plus the New World Translation was showing prominently. It was just a short propaganda video for people to watch while they were touring the facilities.

    What is Patterson?

Is it the building I saw once at the back of the mags with the marble and the big crystal chandeliers and vatincanesque ceiling and wall paintings done by Brother Leonardo from the Rome congregation?

What the hell do they do there and why?

How much did it cost me when I was a JW?

    Can I be reimbursed?
