I scammed a Craigslist scammer!

I had a dresser for sale on Craigslist and as so often occurs some guy wants to buy it and have his shipper pick it up- I emailed him and told him that Craigslist says he had the M-O of a crook.

He emails me back and say he is still interested and will pay the fullprice, so I changed the emailed header from re: dresser $55 to re: dresser $955 and emailed back was he ok with the price and how did he want to pay for it. His English has the syntax of someone who uses it as a 2nd language- he never saw or the mentioned the price change I did!

So, true to form he was going to send me a cashiers check - for $3000 and I was to keep out my money and then send a Western Union mailgram for the difference to the shipper in a city 300 miles away-

I gave him this name Damneds Chrysler and the address of my old Chrysler plant that has been demolished-all that is left is an abandoned guardhouse. A few days later he tells me the check is on it's way and he gave me the UPS tracking #- and I discovered he sent it the expensive way- overnight service-

I emailed him back the next day and told him I had the check- i just needed him to send me a copy of his drivers license before I could wire him the money- he balked, but finally came through--want to see what he looked like?

not too clear- but he did what I wanted- I asked him for his name , just to add to the Western Union to prevent fraud, but he ignored that email and told me to just wire money!

this is my reply to him:

Well I think you should put your name on the western union to avoid confusion- it's your risk. I tried to call the two slabaugh's listed in Wooster ,OH and they don't know anything about shipping- there are 5 of them listed in Wootser- 3 without phone #'s- are you sure this is a good idea?- I would hate for this to get screwed up- maybe I should send it by UPS overnight to be safe, just like you did- what is one more day?- he will get the money by noon tomorreow- just need his full business address, if you want to do it that way

Oh - forgot to mention that I live in a Nudist trailer park- it has a security guard out front- so you will have to have the shipper ask for me, Damneds Chrysler,by name at lot # 17 and give the password of "go colts", in order to gain access to pick up the dresser- do you think he can do this? here is my picture , just so you know I am on the up and up- taken last summer. Damneds

Do you want to see the picture of Damneds in all his glory- family safe of course!

    Post it Bro!

Unfortunately that appears to be a stolen license, it's NOT from OH

    That's awesome Moshe, good job.

My bro-in-law's mother came within a hair's breadth of being taken for quite a bit of money via the same type of third-party shipper scam.

Very funny stuff, though I'm not too clear on this craiglist scam MO. Let me get it straight:

He sent you a check for $3000, and you are supposed to send the difference to a shipping agency? [edited to add, oh I see that since it a "cashiers check" he's expecting you treat it as valid as cash?]

Oh, and I am waiting to see what kind of hysterical picture you sent.
