I'm posting this mockup of the Generation Postcard because so much interest has been shown in it. There are dozens of different ones to come. What I'd like is your suggestions for the text to be included on the other side of the postcard also shown below. Remember to keep your comments BRIEF! Be factual, polite and do not preach. Over to you . . .

The Watchtower promised that this system would end before the 1914 generation passed away.

That prediction failed and I'm not prepared to waste my life pinning my hopes on their worthless promises.

Not bad Slimboy but you don't have to be SO brief. There's room for about 800 characters. Also, as difficult as it might be, I'd try to avoid emotive phrases like 'worthless promises', we want to draw them in not drive them away.

I'll post my own copy later today but thanks for your input and keep it coming.

I had "further promises" in my first draft, which is more neutral.

nicolaou - how about something like this?

On page 200 of your Reasoning Book, you will read that “some who saw the events of 1914 will also see the complete destruction of the present wicked world”. Despite this teaching, almost all of those born before 1914 have long since died. For example, everyone on the magazine cover featured on this postcard have now passed away – all of them believing that they would see the end in their lifetime.

Despite the many changes in the understanding of the “generation” teaching, as the year 2014 approaches we do well to ask: “How can an organization claiming to have guidance from Jehovah get it so very wrong, and over such a long period of time?”

Many excuse the constant changes in doctrine with the teaching that the “light is getting brighter”. However, ask yourself, where in the Bible does it say that the holy spirit of Jehovah God (the “God of truth”) gives false information to his followers as a makeweight until true information is to be revealed at a later time?

Millions died of old age waiting on Watchtower's promise. Don't waste your life on an overlap promise.

Good cedars but "we do well to ask" is pure Watchtower speak. I would avoid it.

OnTheWayOut - to the point. I like it.

The promise of the generation and 1914 was ingrained in my heart. This was a major hope that the WTS shattered for me. I have seen so many jws that I dearly loved unsucessfully try to hold on during major sickness because the end was right around the corner. How this POSTCARD emphasizes how wrong the WTS can be.
