For those who accept the concept of "Race"

--I personally don't, but it appears that many here unhesitatingly do.

For those that do, I'm honestly curious why you do. Is there a rational basis for the acceptance of the concept of "Race" that can be tested?

For example, here are eight people from eight ethnic groups. What "Race" are they?

Nah, race is horseshit. Now, genetic background for things like sickle cell, tay sachs, etc. is a good thing to keep an eye on. otherwise, who cares?

You know if everyone was blind to race or this so called "concept" of race I'd say cool, no problem, I'm right there with you, my friends are a cross section of all those pictures above. Unfortunately I still hear jokes, hateful remarks, etc, often enough to know that this is still an issue. I wish it weren't. I'm caucasion, so they weren't aimed at me, but the problem of hatefulness against classes of people seems to be getting worse, not better. I don't know what that is. It isn't all about race, either. Some of the most hateful things I hear are aimed at gays.

Perception is reality - perception is what people who care about race act upon. It's why an effeminate man can be beaten to death for being perceived as gay. Or a dark-skinned Indian can be dissed for being perceived as Muslim, black, Islamic - you name it.
