May you have peace! (I am reformatting so your patience is appreciated.)

the Bible is the source by which we are led to knowledge of the truth

I’m sorry, but I disagree. First, God Himself is the Source by which we are led to knowledge of the Truth, which Truth is Christ. John 14:6; 6:44; 8:32, 36. Thereafter, Christ... the Holy Spirit... is the source by which we are led to knowledge of "all" truth. John 16:13

However, to give you the benefit of the doubt, may I ask, what is your “authority" for your position and can you show me where Christ is recorded to have said this? In the Bible or even elsewhere is fine...

and the best way to check or test the "spirits" is to check it out in Scripture...

Unfortunately, I have to disagree, again, and ask your authority for this, as well. I mean, I know what Paul said about "all scripture being 'beneficial', etc." and that we are to "test" the inspired expression... or "spirits." But I am not sure the “scriptures” the basis for such a test. I say this because I have learned from the Spirit that there is a TRUE test for the origin of an inspired expression… and it isn’t the Bible. Can you show me, please?

The biggest reason that so many people are sucked into cults or even authoritarian religions is because of their actual LACK of knowledge of what the Bible says

Again, I disagree. There are many who know exactly what the Bible says... and yet, still need "religion" to fill the void they believe is the absence of Christ. Indeed, I marvel at your position, in light of what the Bible says. Hopefully, you'll look up the verses I am sharing with you.

But, again, to give you the benefit of the doubt, may I ask what of those who followed/follow Christ... but have never seen, let alone read a Bible? What of those who cannot even read? What benefit is the Bible to them? And where is the authority that the Bible should supesede the Holy Spirit? Again, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, so if you can show me, that would be great.

Oh, and, no... I don't have a complex, dear one. It’s just that you referred me to a verse. It was not your first referral and this was quite similar to the first. Although you made no claim then as to being "led," I did respond to you that I did ask with regard to it… because I wanted to be sure, for a certainty I did NOT deny the Spirit... IF that was the Source. And I was candid with you that it was not. And you did not deny that.
I simply did the same thing here... and responded as the Spirit did lead me to respond to you and the verse you posted this time. But the bottom line, dear one, is that you believe the Bible to be the authority and so follow it. Which is fine; that's entirely your choice. I bid you peace and do not judge you for it because it is to your own master you will stand or fall.

On the other hand, I believe Christ himself to be the authority... as well as the Holy Spirit... and so I follow him. This is because it was he HIMSELF who revealed to me who and what he is (John 14:21); not the Bible. And because I know him… and I know his voice... and, therefore, who it is that I am following. John 10:1-9, 27

Now, sure, I could say to him, "Well, my Lord, myelaine and others believe I should look to the Bible as my authority, as well as test what you give me against it." But, like the previous issue, I’ve been there, done that. As I have already told you what he stated to me as to what he will tell me... in contrast to what is written. He condemned the work of the scribes, dear myelaine, and it was prophesied. Jeremiah 8:8.

So, again, dear one, I won't deny the Spirit. Indeed, I can’t because I KNOW that ALL authority has been given HIM... in heaven AND on earth. And he... is with me (Matthew 28:20; John 14:23; Romans 8:9, 10)... by means of my being in union... with him… just as HE said. And the Bible says. John 6:56; 15:4-7
Please know that my love and wish for peace for you... and your entire household… remains, of course. This little interchange can do nothing to destroy that. Indeed, if my Lord willing to put up with me, sinner though I am... how could I let such a small, insignificant thing cause me to fail in that regard toward you? I can't, please know that.

As always, I bid you peace, and I am...

Your servant, and a slave of Christ,

    dear AGuest...

sorry its been so long since i've been back here to get to your post...

I picked this out of your last post to refer to it..."And where is the authority that the Bible should supesede the Holy Spirit? "...my answer would be...no where.

and my question would be, where does it say that the Holy Spirit should supercede Jesus?...or do you think that Jesus didn't say this: John 8:31-32...or the Holy Spirit didn't cause this to be written: 1 peter 2:2...

you seem to be saying the opposite of that in this thread, shelby, and I have to ask...were IS the unity of the Spirit?
