breast biopsies.....?

Just wondering if anyone else has gone through multiple breast biopsies..? I found 5 lumps and dutifully went to the doctors...they finally agreed to biopsy me and i've been waiting for the appointment.

I got a letter thismorming saying my appointment would be within 13 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! That's over three months...WFT????????

ive had biopsies twice before last year which were clear but they were performed within a week of finding the lump.

I don't think I can wait this long..I thought it'd be the letter telling me when I was going to have it.

if it was cancer it'd be over four months progressed beforet they would start treatment..I know the units are over worked-but do you think you'd get the same standard of treatment if you were seen privately.?

I feel really sick with worry tonight.Has anyone else had multiple biopsies and had consistant all clears?

I know it's stupid, but I cant concentrate and I really need to.

I have my final project at college and two exhibitions within the next 12 weeks and a gallery interested in my work that I have to prepare for I was so looking forward to all this and now all I can think about is what the result will be and that i'm in limbo and ca'nt get motivated...

any positive experienceswould be really appreciated.......

I have heard of that happening to others too... it doesn't make sense that if it has the possibility of cancer, that you have to wait so long..

A co worker had one done and they said it probably wasn't cancerous and told her they wanted to recheck it in 3 months.. she panicked too thinking why wait so long

Reboot, check this out, this is what my lumps are, if the lumps are not fixed, if you can feel them freely rotate or move when you do your breast exam, chances are this is what you have as well. I know this is scary, I almost had a heart attack when I found mine, that was about 10 years ago. Since then I have had a few of the cysts drained, and they sometimes have to take extra time and extra shots with the mammogram. I had to quit drinking coffee but otherwise this particular condition doesn't really affect my day to day life at all. Having said that, please let us know after your biopsy. If I was feeling like you are, I would make an appointment to see my GP. Even if just for reassurance. You don't need to spend the next 3 months freaking out and being scared. Maybe she/he can take a look and give you a better explanation of why it is taking so long. I've had a lot of cysts as well, it's hard to wait for this long period of time to know 'for sure'.

Listen.....Go back to your GP and ask him to make a referal to your local hospital breast Consultant TODAY. Don't take no ifs or buts, INSIST on it. I've just move wards and manage a female surgical ward that specialises in breast cancer. You should be seen when the GPgets his finger out within 2 weeks maximum. Chances are it will be benign lumps, but its not a risk anyone can afford to take. Please don't be fobbed off.

you must be going out of your mind with worry. I agree that you should go back to your G.P. try to hurry things up a bit.

((((((everyone))))))) my pc crashed again and again after that post and three times this morning...thankyou sooo much for your posts.

(((Sassy))) thankyou and I hope your friend gets the all clear, I think the waiting is the hardest part too.

(((Gretchen )))I 've felt so stressed over it all,what a relief yours were ok! and what a great piece of information, thankyou-that's what my lumps were last time-including a blocked duct which also made alarm bells ring to put it mildly.....They told me to take Evening primrose capsules that are supposed to help with the condition-perhaps you could try them too, they might help you.

oh, and I use crystal sticks instead of aluminium based deoderants now as they're linked to breast cancer and lumps due to the way they work, blocking the natural way the breast cleans and rids it's self of toxins...The last time I was referred within the week, and after the biopsy they diagnosed fibro.The lumps now are new ones though, so I feel really uneasy they're making me wait so long.The doc said they moveable...Hopefully it'll be the same as last year -it's the time scale for the appointment that's so strange.

(((Talesin))) an appointment to chat is a good idea-I can phone through for those and may make him hurry the biopsy along if possible-I wonder how they can be so sure; I feel i'm always hesitating between wanting to trust their judgement and wanting to be pushy as the system can let you down.

(((Scooby))).... having you next to me in the doc's office would get things moving ...thanks for that scoob, and the pm...i'm off to college now but am calling docs on the way out- we have a system whereby they'll call you for a phone consultation if it's not an emergency-but a worry.. at least i'll get to ask him why it's so long after being so fast all the other times...I could'nt do your job-keep up the good work

I cant speak for this type of procedure but when Liam needed an opperation on his ears, we went private because he would have been waiting months - the standard of care at the private hospital was excellent and he got his appointment very quickly.

Obviously Liam's op was not serious, so I would have throught something that is potentially serious would be dealt with quickly.

An all raw vegan diet will kill you if you do it long term and don't know what you are doing (most don't), but there are some very good therapies based around it that are very tough to stick to, but they are a helluva lot better that getting your tits cut off.

Do your homework before submitting to any therapy that doesn't require major changes to your lifestyle and diet.
