Not any first hand experience myself, but my sister-in-law had these lumps throughout her life and her mother saw to it that she got several removed when she was a teen. Naturally that was a horrible experience, so as she grew up, she basically ignored them when they came back.

Two years ago she fell and had to have a chest x-ray--which revealed many of these growths. They told her it was an emergency to get the biopsy done. Once done, cancer was found, so they operated and removed both breasts! She now has implants and is doing well. They say they got all the cancer. She regrets not having taken care of herself.

I would say with your history, they should not put you off. Call back again and tell them if they end up waiting and at the worse, there is cancer, they could be libel. Maybe they will get you in a bit sooner.

    Best wishes! Keep us posted.

Sadly, 13 weeks might become a more common wait here in the states if tort reform doesn't pass here. This January I lost my primary care doc--she moved out of state because she could no longer afford the malpractise premiums. A surgeon at my husband's workplace also left. How odd to have such good care available, and yet out of reach at the same time.

I hope that you will let us know if you could get that GP to schedule that appt. SOONER.

If is was malignant they would have you in within a week so them waiting for 13 weeks is a good sign.

Been there - wasn't a positive experience so I won't spread any negativity but yours sounds sounds benign.

    Mithering them helps.

If you keep ringing up asking for an earlier appointment then eventually it will be easier for them to give you one rather than keep putting you off.

Private is an option too of course.

    Reboot,

From experience I know that you can get what you want by

    1. Visiting your GP immediately about this

    2. Laying it on REALLY thick about how worried you are. I'm not saying you are NOT worried, but as Brits we tend to not express it for fear of looking "soft". Sit in his room and tell him you can't eat, you can't sleep, you are really really worried and you're feeling not even fit for work unless this gets sorted out. You simply cannot wait 13 weeks.

This way, for the sake of your mental health aswell as the possibility of cancer, he will likely refer you on an emergency case.

I did this years ago when they told me that the little lump on my arm was nothing to worry about and sent me home. It was 6 months later that I went back and insisted they remove it and I was willing to accept any scarring it incurred. It turned out that if I hadn't done that and if I'd left it a few months more, I'd almost certainly be dead (it was Melanoma).

Similarly I've had lumps removed from my lymph nodes which turned out all clear, but I didn't hesitate to force them to operate immediately. Just don't take the chance.

Love & lots of luck to you

Ang and simon-thanks-ive been thinking about the private option if I need to- glad you got Liam sorted out quickly-ears can be v. painful.

but they are a helluva lot better that getting your tits cut off

Black sheep......thankyou for that advice but i'm diet obsessive anyway and very healthy... I would have no problem loosing my breasts, in fact they've caused me so much worry for so long i'd quite like to see the back of them.

Bebu and satan,thanks...im hoping that too-just have a family history and cant understand their complaicence

Sentinal-I hope your sis-in -law's still doing well...t's really interesting to hear others have had these and have also had occurance of cancer.my mother died from the CA gene so im at risk anyway and very aware but , youre right, as always we tend to underplay our shock and worry and then I become aware I may sound as though i'm crying wolf each time new ones appear.

Sirona... poor you...So glad you were persistant...I've made an appointment to see another doctor this morning, next week and being female im hoping this will help to either explain the wait satifactorially or to get me referred sooner-or to recommend a private consultation.

thanks everyonei'll keep my fingers crossed.

I am pretty sure the crystal has problems as well - will have to find the info, but it seems to me there is a naturally occuring 'something' in it similar to the aluminum ... will let you know.

Like Sirona said - go immediately, be PERSISTENT. I have this problem as well, going under the knife on Tuesday. When they are messing around, not TCB quickly enough, then it's time to start pushing. Sometimes it's necessary to get the treatment we need in a timely fashion. Usually they can tell by the 'feel' that it is fibrous, so you're most likely okay (from my experience). BUT, your peace of mind is so important as it relates to physical health in general and these bloody cysts in particular.

reboot, I'm so sorry you have this long wait. Recently I posted about a young mother whose biopsy was cancerous . She has since gone through surgery to remove the lump and is now finishing her chemo, next month she'll start her radiation treatment. It's all been very fast, since just before Christmas. I would want at least an opinion from my primary care giver. Doc's know if it's a good or bad tumor. In the US they won't voice their knowledgable opinions for fear of a law suit. But maybe in the UK it's different. My thoughts are with you, Panda
