OK, I'm half-blitzed after a day of mainly mind-numbing boredom.

    Here's a couple observations.

The "worldly" menus at the Cow Palace in San Francisco are still up there for the JWs to see.

    Bratwurst.

    Nachos.

    Brewskis.

Oh man. I would have paid $20 each to have those at lunch today.

    Good news?

My family was so bored they were snoozing half of the day.

    Even my 95% JW-loyal wife.

Ezekiel's vision of the temple?!? After lunch!?! C'mon Brooklyn! What are you guys smokin?

There weren't as many F&D Slave references compared to last year's indoctrination sessions.

There was one experience by some old guy who was at a New York convention in the 1950s where Freddy Franz said something about the "Princes" being right there in their midst. My wife gave me a "WTF?" look, and I leaned over and told her that the JWs used to teach that David, Abraham, Lot, etc. would be coming back early (1925) and that the Society bought a big mansion in San Diego for them to stay in.

    Guess what my daughter did?

She wrote in her notepad: LIES!!!

(I quickly gave her a look that could kill and she scribbled it out. Then I gave her a conspiratorial wink.)

Mom's not ready for that much honesty. Yet.

If I can, I'll post my observations on Saturday & Sunday.

Had another flash of brilliance while staring across the Cow Palace today.

I would love to rig up some bags with tons of confetti-like slips of paper in them and attach them to the roof of the auditorium. Then release them at lunch time. They would say the following in a fairly large font:

    "I created you.

    I love you very much.

I want you to worship me."

(At the bottom in a much smaller font would be this:)

"And if you don't...... I'll kill you.

    Jehovah"

I think that was in the yearbook one year........ I believe it also mentioned what these faithful men of old would be wearing...

    this link says, http://www.geocities.com/paulblizard/deed.html

Here are few of the many comments made by the San Diego press when Beth-Sarim first appeared on the scene:

March 15, 1930 San Diego Sun: "San Diego Mansion -- With All Modern Improvements -- Awaits Earthly Return of Prophets."

Jan 9, 1931 San Diego Sun, "David's House Waits for Owner." A reporter asked Rutherford how he thought those ancient men would look and he replied he thought they would arrive in frock coats, high hats, canes and spats!

Im surprised you even listened to the interviews because it seems they are all the same year after year. The Fred Franz comment would have been priceless.

Did you hear at least one interview where the guy says that his job was getting in the way of meeting attendance and quit his good paying job with benefits and pension to live the simple life ($10 dollar and hour) job so he can attend meetings. Seems I hear that one at least once at every convention, I heard it yesterday. I just got back this morning from saving seats, now I got to go again.

I bet so far it's the same old "I quit college", "I turned down college (or a job promotion)", or "I have [any major disease]" and still pioneered. I wonder when it is going to come down to the MP3 player being used with the mics only there for appearance.

The: ("Princes" being right there in their midst)

comment was used to introduce the congregation elder policy. The elder policy replaced the company servant, assistant company servant, and bible study servant policy. The company servant policy grew from the service director policy that was set up to replace the former elder policy.

God looked down from heaven when all the people clapped, he thought Knorr and Freddy surely must have snapped.

We were there at that convention! We were so shocked to hear "there are some of those princes among us today!".

When we heard it was the elders (overseers) it was a big letdown. I can't believe that that was not enought to get us

to see that it was not the truth. Why did it take 33 more years for us to see?????????????

That is the JW mentality, we were so brainwashed that it was impossible for us to see.

I just thank God that we finally did get it!
