My family was big on digging up dirt espescially on their own kids. Dad was very adapt at pre electronics (1970's) and mom was great at steaming open a letter with the tea kettle, or turning a room upside down to find private diaries, putting every thing back and then trying to nail the guilty party by tricking them into lieing.

It was her forte. I am sure she put dad up to tapping the phone.

She also secretly drove the streets to school behind me before and after school to see what I was up to.

When I look back, this behaivor was extremely sick.

I often wonder why I am such a private person, .....awake and watching's thread about a first kiss brought it all back.

Do you remember any of this kind of behaivor from your own JW parents? Or were mine just the worst!?

    Hi r.,

Some 300-plus entries in my diary were read ... here!

    Other than that ...

Diary read---yes! Every single note, letter, piece of paper brought into my room----YES. No privacy whatsoever, even when I was 16-17 years old.

Funny how she never found my cigarettes.

I never had that problem, simply because I was so good at putting so many things in codes that no one else can crack.

I couldn't even write in a journal, because every diary, note, piece of paper that I had would be read and used against me. I remember my mom ripping a note out of my purse at the meeting and punishing me for having notes from worldly girls in my purse. I think I was 11 or 12.

My dad tapped our phone, not just to tape our phone conversations, but any other JW brother or sister that called for advice.

yes anything that was in my parents house was fair game for my mother,

and she searched through my belongings before i left and removed my address book to make sure it didnt fall into enemy hands.

(she didnt need to tape phonecalls, she just sat in the room while you were on the phone)
