Text Message from JW - What Now???

I just got a text message from a JW family that I haven't seen in a very long time. I don't think that they realise I have stopped attending meetings.

The text message read:

Is that our Miss Peaches still on this number? Love from the C family.

I was very good friends with mother in this family. They were converts from the territory. She left her lawyers job and he left his accountants job to serve as pioneers. Their twins were baptised 2 years ago aged 10. They homeschool their 3 children (very rare here in Australia.) But she was such a lovely lady.

I am in such a quandry. Because I feel like I should be upfront with them from the outset and let them know that I don't go to meetings anymore. But how do you do that? Do you just blurt it out? What do you say? They were really gung ho as well...

I have to say - I hate running into or text messages from JW friends who don't know where I stand. I go immediately into panic mode!

I'd just be friendly as if there were any other people. If it comes up be candid and remain friendly. Let THEM be the ones that cut ties or make things awkward, who them you are the better person. :)

Okay now this is just plain weird...

I just got another message from ANOTHER JW... Again same deal... Now these two don't know each other at all. From completely different parts of the world...

First message at 2:56pm and the second one at 3:20pm....

Maybe they read JWD and saw your screename? Unless they didnt actually say miss peaches in the first text and you edited it for board consumption

Is it for sure that they couldnt know each other. Do you in fact know it is them or could someone be playing a prank pretending to be someone from your past? Though with a text I would presume you know the numbers.

Is there something you maybe did online, like a journal that they might both have been privy to? Or maybe something changed recently with your congregation or family status?

Sounds like some kind of annoucement was made about you or at least someone was talking about you anyway. It seems to me that many who have 'left' worry about the jw's and their standing rather than letting the current jw's know what is the 'truth'. I realize that a jw may lose all should they come clean, so to speak, but still do you feel any responsibility to tell them some of things you have found out?
