When you were still in the org, did you ever wonder what the apostates were saying? The society would just say lies and half truths.I always assumed it was about the trinity, and other religious stuff. I thought they were EXjws who had become born agains !

The only apostates I saw were a bit odd, I never saw any banners with messages on them. I didnt know about ANY scandels

And I didnt realize there were so many

So what were your ideas about apostates before YOU became one

First of all I thought the term apostates only mean those who tried to stop us from preaching and tried to get us out of the organisation by providing us lies. (ex jw's but also other opposers)

I did not know many actually. I knew some df-ed persons, butthey all were always comming back or trying to come back. Some people had faded and did all things that were wrong, but were quite innocent for people in the 'truth'.

The only time I saw some people with banners near a convention, they had bible text written on them. I looked up the text at the convention, but it did not make much sense. It were things like joh 3:16 or so. Not really things that make you think.

All things, the UN scandal, the 607 issue, and many other scandals I only learned since I came to this board. But before this I had alerady decided on logical grounds that it was not the truth.

never knew who they are. sometimes one or two would try to give away tracts at conventions and everyone who would stop and talk with them catched the some stingy views from the passers-by. one older brother also always told stories about some "evil slave class" that would be fighting the "faithful and discreete slave class".

later i thought, if something is the truth, any argument against it can be disproven. i thought, why not raise the topics and give an answer to them.

I remember apostates preaching loudly outside the assembly we went to in Norwich. Thought they were crackers. Id love to know who it was now tho!!! Other times there were a group of them stood there with banners. I was wearing my JW blinkers so didnt really notice them.

Additionally I thought Apostates were only those trying to stop Witnesses. The one that was outside the assembly was going on and on about prophesies and deep stuff.

When I was studying I went to an assembly and outside there was a scruffy looking man with a bike, he was shouting something and he tried to talk to me but the old bag that I was studying with dragged my arm to get me away from him.

She told me he was an apostate and that I should never speak to them because they are working with the devil and want to stumble young ones like myself.

The whole experience gave me the creeps (I was only 16) and even now the word 'apostate' has creepy connotations for me.

I saw one at a convention when I was studying. He looked normal except for a well trimmed beard and he had a determined look while he was trying to hand out tracts. I tried to take one but the three dubs with me told me not to then they circled around me. I was so scared of Armageddon that I let them whisk me into the building. If I had only known......

Yeah, what Danny said. I never could understand why they seemed to want to bother the rest of us good dubs either. My feeling was that if they wanted to leave, then leave already and stop trying to pull others out. Of course, that's when I though JW's really were what they say they are. Now I understand the motivation to help others out of a lying cult.

I never understood why they just didnt leave us alone. I now know why !!!!

I remember a comment was made at the KH about an ex sister who was sueing the WT, some were schoffing, I was just dumbfounded WHY was she doing it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Its only now I realize that she was fighting the shunning and the terrible consquences of it.

I also thought apostates were the people picketing the district conventions when I was little... Bad, scary people, I could practically see the demons flying around them!! If you had told me then that I would be considered an apostate one day, I would have died from the shock.
