Last Days of This Wicked System of Things

THE Bible speaks of the time in which we are living as the “last days” or the “time of the end.” (2 Timothy 3:1; Daniel 11:40) The facts show that this is a limited period that has a definite beginning and a definite end. It began in 1914 when Jesus Christ was enthroned as king in the heavens. It will end when God destroys this present wicked system of things. What a relief it will be when the organizations and persons that cheat and oppress, and all who endanger the security of their fellowmen, are gone!

2 How soon will that be? God’s own Son, Jesus Christ, gives the answer. After drawing attention to the many things that mark the period from 1914 onward as the “time of the end,” Jesus said: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” (Matthew 24:34) Which generation did he mean?

3 Jesus had just referred to persons who would “see all these things.” “These things” are the events that have taken place since 1914 and those yet to occur down to the end of this wicked system. (Matthew 24:33) Persons born even as much as fifty years ago could not see “all these things.” They came on the scene after the foretold events were already under way. But there are people still living who were alive in 1914 and saw what was happening then and who were old enough that they still remember those events. This generation is getting up in years now. A great number of them have already passed away in death. Yet Jesus very pointedly said: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur.” Some of them will still be alive to see the end of this wicked system. This means that only a short time is left before the end comes! (Psalm 90:10 [89:10, Dy]) So now is the time to take urgent action if you do not want to be swept away with this wicked system.

Thats from the 'Truth' (?) book. Thats the teaching that hooked me in the early 80s. Seem to make so much sense at the time!

If you control the person's environment and if you control the person's information, you can control the person's beliefs . . . . and if you can control the person's beliefs, you can control the person . . . . and if you can control the person, you can control their production and you can control their money.

If you are having difficulty controlling the person's environment, you can very frequently bring the person into an environment you do control.

    Meetings, more meetings, study, service, more meetings, service, study, meetings . . . . . . .

Yep, that's the one that did for me, too! Now I ask myself how I could be so gullible. What a plank!

Are you guys saying that the Truth book isn't TRUE?!?!? How can you say that? Why, even the title of the book says it's 'truth'. OK. I've got to admit it. I studied with that book and I fell for the teachings too. Garybuss summed up the way cults operate. The WTS fits the bill to a T. neyank

    How about this one:

You Can Live Forever In Paradise on Earth.

Something snapped in my head when I realized which Bible character was the first one to utter that promise:

    Genesis 3:1-5

Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: "Is it really so that God said you must not eat from every treee of the garden?" At this the woman said to the serpent: "Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You must not eat from it, no, you must not touch it that you do not die.' " At this the serpent said to the woman: "You positively will not die. For God knows that in the day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like God, knowing good and bad."

    Interesting, eh?

I know this is what ensnared my father. I wish I could debate with him about it but bringing that up would be relationship suicide so I just the light gets clearer for him. (and the rest of my family but my father is definitely the glue that keeps them all in the org, if he left their whole belief system would be devestated)

Btw.......you do realise that any who left over the misrepresentations and deceptions of the WTS have been 'sifted out'! The WTS fails to realise that people who give up a lot to become a JW, live a JW lifestyle etc. are bound to be sensitive to issues of truth. We have not changed.

From What I understand, The watchtower no longer teaches this to be a literal generation of people. So the"truth" book was wrong. So, That means that any one of their current publications can contain false teachings. So I guess I just don't, For the life of me understand why The witnesses get so upset and shun people when they leave because of false teachings. Just gootta keep on believing that new light I guess huh?

I studied the "Paradise Lost Paradise Restored book when I was little with my mom who conducted it with me and my two older sisters. The picture of armageddon with the earth opening up and swallowing children and others........scared the shit out of us enough to keep at it.

This along with all the other bunch of bull along the way about how close the end was and the promise of an earthly paradise.....if we were strong and good enough.... fooled me for another 35 years after studying with my mom.
