Is Jehovah Irresponsible?

If I as a parent were to keep a pit bull or poisonous snake in my house, and it killed one of my children, what would the civil authorities do? What would the media pundits and experts say about my parenting skills? How would child services act had they known about the situation in advance? Or what might they do with the rest of my children still living with me? What about the trauma and fear my children would face? What would a judge think of my answer if I said that these animals are perfect, and the child just got in their way, or confused the animal?

Consider that the earth is our home. According to Watchtower theology, Jehovah creates everything perfect, for no fault can be found in anything he does. Fair enough. Adam and Eve sinned and became imperfect and passed along this imperfection to their offspring ... okay, I dont like the apparent injustice in this ... but, again, fair enough.

Now enters the PERFECT animal creation, and they continue to be perfect according to Watchtower theology, because they have never sinned or acted outside their design specifications. Just consider a few: Grizzly bears, Great White Sharks, Alligators, Lions and poisonous Snakes.

The Bible, Gods instruction book for humans, according again to Watchtower theology, does not contain a single warning about sharks, etc. We are left in the dark, and God as our parent never warned us that in our mutual home we have many things to be wary of. The Black Mamba snake, for example, does not just strike to get food or out of fear, but actually hunts and chases for sport ... and if you are in close range, you cannot out run this snake ... and its bite is lethal in seconds.

Is there something wrong with this picture of a loving parent? Is the problem with Watchtower theology, or with the loving God concept, or both? Is Jehovah God an irresponsible parent? Or is Jehovah a fantasy created in the image of the Watchtower Society to glorify themselves?

Amazing...Very interesting points. Also we have the added threat of an invisible spirit creature(s), millions of times smarter/stronger than us who is/are allowed to pursue us on a daily basis so our Father can prove a point to some of his former associates. Is this not the same as if we as parents put our children in harms way on a regular basis, just hoping that they will get everything correct and avoid the pitfalls that would surely kill them, but not intervening until some unspecified time way in the future. Oh, wait a minute...we can give them an instruction book that no one can seem to figure out. Let's put the baby outside to grow up with wolves while I stay in and watch Jerry Springer. I don't get it...never did. I guess that's why after 50 years of indoctrination and they could not answer simple logical questions, I decided to quit being led by the nose.

Wait a minute, it was the snakes fault wasn't it?...oh excuse me, I meant serpent.

Or are there just parts of the Bible that got lost over time or were edited out here and there?

Maybe he just left it up to us.

    Dear friend,

The answer to your questions are really simple. Get to know the reasons for what you see today, read through Genesis.

One thing we must remember is this; Jehovah`s ways are higher than ours. He is the perfect judge and his knowledge is unsearchable.

What you are really saying, is that, lower creatures should judge the higher. Never let that be so! The dog snapping at his master because it did not like the food you put before it, even though you sought the best you could buy.

Bonezz: Good points. I forgot about the Devil ... yes, so in our house, we have the pit bull, snakes, and Hells Angels too ...

Bendr: I agree, and am sure that much of what was written has been lost, and much of it is seriusly misunderstood.

Carepet: I appreciate your sincere efforts to assign reason and give some answer, but to respond to you would take an entire post ... or in my long style, maybe a series. I am not saying that I do not have faith, but I am targeting some faulty logic found in some theology, especially Watchtower theology ... and maybe it is about time we began to place God on trial.

But dont you remember? No animals ate meat before the flood. All of that is only nessesary to ensure survival of the species untill the New Order! Right? Um, you know, sharks ate only sea plants, snakes ate only small pebbles, and lions, well those teeth were suitable for chewing up large tree trunks.

Obviously, the earth was much different then. There was far more vegetation, but Noah couldn't save all of that could he? And Jehovah was in his day of rest, well, day of rest from creating anyway (there was plenty of time for destroying and that is kind of like recreation anyway), so he could not just recreate those missing species of plants. Besides the giant cloud that covered the earth was gone and now the climate is different.

So to answer your question, it is not Jehovah's fault. It was humans who caused God to have to kill them and wreck the perfect plan for a worldwide garden. It's all in the Bible you know.

P.S. Don't forget about mosquitos. They used to suck sap from small seedlings before they had to resort to blood.

Carepet, thanks for posting. My reply:

The posters here HAVE read Genesis. The questions still exist.

"Jehovah's ways are higher" -- that's too easy. Jehovah gave us a mind to reason with, and to ask questions. Or did he not expect us to ask questions. Are you saying he's telling us "just be quiet and read the book"?

If the book doesn't have the answers, if the answers are higher than us... can we not bat around some possibilities as to what the answers are? I hope you think that's reasonable.

The original humans were created with perfect bodies able to withstand germs, snakes, etc, but they were created as creatures with free will, not robots who had to obey God. They chose to side with Satan.

As to the terrible dog idea (Satan) being kept by the Father (God) and that being bad for the kids (humans), the dog was originally a good puppy that also had free will and chose to become bad.

If God were not loving He would have simply made humans and Satan robotic, having to do exactly as programmed. Instead, being loving, they were given free will.

    Do you understand this, Amazing?

    Hi Carepet,

I remember a visiting CO explaining to us how great our religion was over Christendoms because we could explain things logically...such as why a loving God would not torture his created Humans in a Hellfire for eternity...and we could certainly explain away 3-headed Gods in a logical manner. However, it seems when Witts get backed into a corner they too fall back onto the same old platitudes like..."God's knowledge is unsearchable." Oh how I used to toy with the Hellfire folks asking them, "Is God Love?" and of course when they would jump in with a resounding, "YES", I would cut 'em down with, "...but he's gonna torture Humans who mess up with torture worse than Hitler." You know what?...they would almost always wind up responding with something like, "God's knowledge is unsearchable."

"If He were not loving He would have simply made humans and Satan robotic, having to do exactly as programmed. Instead, being loving, they were given free will."

But since they obviously screwed that up royally, He decided to go back to the original robotic/preprogrammed plan. Or at least a variation on the theme. Sort of like, "heres the good door," (the choice you I want you to make). And "heres the bad door" (any other choice). Which one do you chose? Then when they make the wrong choice..BAAAM!!! Total anhiliation. (Thats also loving, since He simply destroys them forever; he will not torture them in hell).

His Plan B (modified robotic) is well manifested in the WTS.
