When will the WTS admit that this arrangement is a bust - financially, emotionally, aesthetically. MTS was something that started in 1987 for those who wanted to pursue other avenues of services without having to go through bethel service. It originally was intended to be an abbreviated gilead course with brothers receiving assignments to go into the circuit work, missionary service, special pioneer work or to serve where the need was greater (which oftentimes translated to the boonies or starkly rural areas).

The greater majority of brothers who were given assignments would then have meltdowns because they were often sent into assignments that in no way was in line with their skill-set, background, locale they were raised in, etc. There were even some who were sent to **gasp** Bethel, where they could see the action up close, only to be later disillusioned and go back home. The majority of assignments brothers now receive from MTS? Being sent back to their local congregations like fish thrown back in the water. So for two months, brothers get gilead-style training only to be sent back home in hopes of serving in their home congos. WHAT A WASTE!!

It's even more of a waste when most, if not all these bros have foregone college in hopes of receiving this perceived theocratic higher education only to find that it doesn't carry any value and that you'll be sent back to your originally congo anyway..........

    MTS develops company "Yes" men.

In the area where I'm at, many if not all of the MTS graduates are not admired, honored nor are they approachable by the congregation. It seems that only the elders find them to be of good use. These MTS graduates are good in one thing and one thing only. They are excellent in making schedules.

These ones develop a company attitude only because they are trained to be very organizational in a firm or business. The WTS Inc.

Dont F*c*ing get me started on MTS! that program is a pet peeve of mine...what a fu*king waste of time for those brothers to go through...prepares them only for a Utopian congo, not what they get sent to.

NOT TRUE....they used to send them back to their home congos and let them sit awhile to gain experience and apply their knowledge. I know of several classes where they were assigned back home, then 2 weeks later got their assignments to the boonies. Here is the experience of many: The elders in the assigned congo (usually 3 or less elders) dont want some new younger MTS blood there upsetting the apple cart...they like the status quo (which is why the Borg sends them there) The brothers are given assignment letters that include the name, address and phone number of the PO in the assigned congo....but the PO does not help. These brothers resent MTS grads because it means the locals are not doing their job and need "help"....They dont want help...they like it the way it is.

    WHAT A WASTE!!

    That is a true statement.

Let me tell you the experience of someone I know who went to MTS a few years ago... the brother got his letter (along with half the class) 2 weeks after graduation...his was to somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere USA along with another brother from the class. When this brother got his letter, he called the PO listed on the letter. The PO in this assigned congo did not help him find housing, job, anything before he was to arrive (not that there is much in the Middle of Nowhere congo in the midwest) . The MTS grad had to decline that first assignment and ended up assigned closer to home, within 75 miles, but he had to commute for all the meetings and service, plus elders meetings... all because there was no work in that rural congo either. 150 miles round trip, X 3 meetings a week, + Sat FS...at least 600 miles/week + a hundred miles in FS....then another trip if the elders decided to have a Fri night elders meeting instead of one after the congo meeting. ...usually since this MTS brother (an elder)...was left out of elders meetings because the 3 local elders were on the service committee...so they would have "service committee" meetings without him...later this brother would find out the real topics and he should have been included...they were leaving the MTS elder out in the cold on purpose. The brother relating this experience was greatly disillusioned about the whole thing. Applied for years, did not go to school, etc...waiting for his chance...finally gets it...then that?

He ended up leaving the Rural congo and going back to a congo closer to home, where he was treated like crap. Stayed an elder for a few years....deleted because he was resented by that BOE because he was an MTS grad (even though he was no longer in the program). The brother was dropped from the MTS program (for not taking the Nowhere assignment, then leaving the Rural assignment without good reason). This brother transfers congos again and has now basically dropped off the radar. That MTS grad is no longer pioneering, no longer an elder, and hardly goes to meetings and does not go in FS. Nice...from spiritual so-called "cream of the crop" to spiritual "Scum of the earth" in the eyes of the Borg....and no help from the congo he does go to. Maybe he will tell that whole story here one day, if he ever leaves the Borg that is.

I heard later that an MS from the same MTS class as the first brother and another MTS elder were also sent to that Rural congo and they are still there, wasting their time...congo not growing, problems still there ...5 years after they arrived. (so much for that great training...they should shutter that congo) Both disappointed they were not reassigned (or sent into circuit work, which they were trained for at MTS) after helping the first congo...but still sticking it out. . and racism..even within the congo..why would they send a black brother (who is still there) and another brother not white ...why would they send them to an all white congo in an all white county that still has KKK members? The black brother gave up a nice PT gig back home with benefits that he had for years to go do janitorial work for a brother..... WTF? The other brother gave up a FT gig at home to go do a barely above min wage job in a restaurant..... barely making ends meet.

The Borg trains brainwashes these MTS grads, tells them they are special, thentells them not to get a big head, then sends them without any resources to congos where elders are leaving for greener pastures because the economy is in the tank but the only ones left are elderly publishers....so sure, send a young MTS grad in...he wont be resented by the local yokels?? nahhh..

Peace out...sorry you got me started...MTS (Most Terrible Sh*t)..."A mind is a terrible thing to waste"

SankesInTheTower, I would like to know how you really feel about MTS. Just funnin your observations are dead on.

Im SOOOO glad I left the org mentally before trying to go to MTS. It helped too that I was once engaged, but I think if I would have attended that i would hate myself for the waste of time in going.

There are two MTS grads in my circuit...sent to the boonies of the boonies that has NO job opportunities. I can only imagine the mental anguish it must put on them to go from living up north in huge metropolitan areas with many opportunities to that. And the way they are received here sounds different from the way you guys describe it. The MTS grads in this area or a step away from being worshipped by many.

This is a dead-on observation as I know many in the US and Canada who have gone apostate............
