I'm interested in developing a list of things jws are allowed to do that have "pagan" or otherwise "evil" origins in the eyes of the wts. What types of things are you aware of? So far I've got.....

red lip stick (allegedly invented to distinguish prostitutes from non-prostitutes)

    wedding veils

    wedding rings

hearts, stars, etc. used in home decor or jewelry

The first hurdle to overcome to develop the list is the definition of "pagan" isn't the same for jws as it was for early Xians, and in fact the definition seems to have changed throughout history.

Tombstones, coffins and "embalming" all have origins with Pagan cultures concerned with passing on to the afterlife...

bridesmaids - meant to fool evil spirits when they came for the bride

eye makeup - used by pagan throughout history and only mentioned twice in the bible, both times used by evil ones. Hey isn't that what they say about birthdays?

    Wedding Rings/wedding parties - http://www.thaigem.com/infocenter/buyer_guides/history_of_wedding_rings.asp

Anything related to chemistry (alchemy) - http://www.alchemylab.com/history_of_alchemy.htm

Christianity ( I know, highly debatable)

    Wind Chimes......

    Isn't anything 'pre-Christian' considered 'pagan'?

For this thread to be effective and meaningful, anyone posting should post proof that the pagan thing they're posting is actually pagan. A link to a wikipedia page or other independent research posted online, or even to a book, would be helpful.

    "Easing Nature"

The only ones specifically mentioned in the Bible to "ease nature" were apostates/pagans.
