"Leaving the Truth" The Easy Way

I noticed that we have a lot of new lurkers here - and, in particular, some elders who are agonizing over how to get free

from the Watchtower without causing too much damage to themselves. Here are some suggestions that have worked

    well for me and others:

    1) claim to have a chronic illness, particularily depression - it helps to establish your "legend" ( spy terminology)

if you go to a doctor and claim depression so that you can say you are receiving treatment for it.

Other chronic conditions are helpful such as migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and others.

    2) Don't discuss doctrine or complaints about the organization with anyone - keep your own counsel

and don't trust anyone. You are sick or depressed, that's enough. If you want to complain, do it anonymously

on internet sites like this one. Be discreet in your computer use.

    3) Expect some examination -especially if you're an elder. The C.O. may ask you why want to resign. Offer

    nothing more than illness/ depression.

    4) think about changing congregations and getting lost - turn in some time long enough to get your publisher

cards transferred to the congregation Secretary - and then vanish. Works well in congregations with burned out/

    old/sick/lazy elders.

It can be done! You can get free and stop wasting your life enslaved to this organization and its dead end

    requirements. It worked for me!

That's very good advice for keeping under the Radar. Keeping a low profile and low tones is the smart way.

In other words, use your own form of theocratic warfare - only tell them what you think they need or deservr to hear, and try to keep a low profile. Good advice for those wanting to fade and not be df'd.

Point four might not work anymore even the society is going hard after the lazy ones. I think our CO put hitmen in our congegation. Two new elders appeared out of no where. They just moved in and where appointed on the spot. Last elder that moved in took several month for him to be appointed.

oh by the way my friends father ( the PO ) seems very stressed the last two CO visits. and our congregation has 2 MS and 12 elders.

    Most definitely (sp?) number 2!

Don't discuss it with anyone! I mistakenly, although all the while thinking i was saving my family spiritually, asked my best girlfriend how she coped when her hubby was slipping in the truth, talked to the "mature woman" I dearly loved and known since childhood about my doubts and how did she "know" it was the truth, even my own mother. Whoops! I guess it only helped propel me out and even though not officially "out", I am allready feeling the shunning. i guess we already know for a certainty it WILL happen, it still hurts.

Keep tabs on topics here and you'll find the friends you need and the will to continue. Best Wishes.

    Metatron-

First, let me say that I especially enjoy reading your articulate, well placed posts! I always look to find your latest tid bit of wisdom on this board.

I totally agree with your suggestions. I am in the process of planning to do exactly what you suggest about moving to a different congregation, in fact, I am working on moving out of state. If it were not for wanting to finally live MY life, and not continue to live my current artifical JW life, I never would have desired to move away. I totally love my current address. However, my sanity is at risk, and nothing is worth my long term happiness.

Thank you for your continued contributions to this site.
