  With Prince Albert in heaven at Jesus' right hand, there is now a gap in the force among the Governing Body.

  The new administration is now one man short.

  Who will be his replacement?

  Maybe that's why they appointed Geoffrey Jackson and the other dude to GB members - they knew Schroeder was going soon, maybe Barr will be next.

  The last GB died around 2001, can't remember what his name is now.

  So, what do you think will happen with one of the heavyweights off the scene?

  What happens when all the GB hardtimers die?

  I wonder if with the younger eyes of the new GB they will not be starting to see some NEW LIGHT. I am willing to bet that within the next 3-5 years that the belief system becomes a little bit more ' user friendly.' I. E. maybe things like birthdays will not be grounds for disfellowshipping etc. It is easy to see that the rank and file are not going to tolerate thheir stupidity the way that they used to and some changes are going to have to take place somewhere.

  Personally, I used to hope there would be reform among the younger GB members, but they their own opinions are ineffectual among the larger body.

  The recent two were probably picked after years of careful observation, to make sure they were GOOD Society men.

  To continue the legacy of the old timers, it is essential to reappoint those who think like them.

  There will be no changes, short of court intervention.

  There is a deeply rooted establishment in the WTS and I somehow feel it will never change substantially and will be with us until the org collapses. Are there other unknown forces behind the scenes pulling the strings? Whoever will be ruling will follow unwritten instructions that never change. If the org tries to admit its errors and change substantially it will fall apart.

  In a way I hope that there are no changes; if the cult started making sense, people would stay. I hope the young (hehe) replacements are good company men who keep the chariot moving in the constantly changing directions to nowhere.

  greendawn, i have the same thoughts. doesnt it seem like there is a "society behind the society?" im not trying to be a conspirancy theorist, but who is calling all the shots while the gb. is pooping in their depends?

  Yeah, some people here in Bethel think the recent elimination of the Bethel elder arrangement was because of the "fresh wind" that blows on the GB.

  BUT! The "young" members are as hardcore as the old generation! Don't forget that they have been following the rules by the line, or they wouldn't be sitting where they are now. Don't expect any mayor changes. And if they try to bring in fresh ideas, they can only turn into more cracks among the organization. From personal experience (meeting these new guys on the board) it seems to me that they are as hardcore as the others, only they haven't got "the swing" since they have to obediently follow direction of the oldtimers.

  The only interesting part is that some of them where family fathers and see things a bit different, so expect a few adjustments here and there, but nothing mayor. I've heard that the recent cutback of the Awake magazine is due to a "war" that is going on between Publishing committee and Writing committee. It seems that Publishing committee took the decision and "forgot" to ask the other guys....

  The young guys are just as reactionary as the old ones, believe me. They know how to climb the theocratic ladder, for sure, but that does not translate into progressive reform of the religion.
