The "Freeloader" Pioneer Sister who lives with us asked me this morning if she could "look" up something real quick on my laptop. I was not prepared for this and quickly told her the system was down and I would let her use it later.

WHAT DO I DO? How do I get rid of all the recent sites box that you can scroll down to.

How do I make my computer not put in the finishing letters to a site when I type it it. (Imagaine what will pop up when she types in "watch"

If you have XP, make anothe user, especially for her, or for other guests.

Then there is none of the history you mentioned available to other users

    Start>Control Panel

    Choose "Network and Internet Connections"

    Click on "Internet Options"

Click on "Delete" under Temporary Internet Files and click the "Clear History" button under History.

That should clear the history so she can't see where you've been.

I know this may sound cruel but why can't she go to the library? I wouldn't feel comfortable letting a jw on my computer. Then again it could be fun...for me.

If your parents think you are JW, then it would look weird to refuse her.

Learn how to create another user for the system and make sure to password protect your username.

I had two users on my computer, my son and myself. I just forget how you do it now, but it is not difficult. My son had a password, to log on to his half, that I couldn't access, that was his idea not mine, I didn't care if he wanted to access my half of the computer.

When I went to the computer, I had to log on, to reach my half. It is like having two computers.

Search in help if you want to do that. Put her off, until you get it set up, tell her that you are doing it for her benefit, you do not want to know what she is doing, you want to respect her privacy,

Yes... I think the very best thing, if you have XP, is to create a guest user. This way she will not see any of your files nor you web usage.

    >Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Create New User> follow promps.

Under Windows XP, create a "Guest" user as mentioned earlier and then password protect your own identity. That way the "guest" cannot access any of the information associated with your identity. The browser in the guest Identity will have have none of your bookmarks in it. For better security, make sure that the guest Identity is not classed as an administrator. That way you'll be able to check where she has been, but she can't check on yours.
That's the best advice I can give. Its not 100% fullproof, but should do if the sister is not real computer sophisticated.
