Oh my god it was so horrible....was the worst pain I have ever been in.

It was a 3 hour labor contraction....I couldn't even walk. I was crawling into the emergency room. I am on pain medication now and feeling better. I think the meds are making me sick though or I might have caught the stomach flu....

This is going to be a long night.

I passed a stone once. Mine wasn't painful to have, only agravating. Had to pee every 20 minutes!

It got stuck almost at the "end", for about a week. I finally passed it the day before the x-rays, so it didn't show up.

I was told a few years ago, that I have stones in my pancreas. The doc wanted to take them out, and kept hounding me. I said to him, my philosophy is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So, I guess they are still there. No problems yet, but. maybe someday I'll regret my philosophy.

p.s. Hope you are feeling better, Brooke. Did they give you any meds to help disolve them?

They gave me some meds..but I don't know if they are making me sick...or I have the stomach flu.

I am just scared.... that I am not keeping the meds down and the pain will come back again.

brooke, what are the side effects of the meds?

You can look them up on "webmd", or something similar. This will give you an idea if it might be side effects, or flu.

I'm on high blood pressure pills, and you wouldn't believe all the side effects you "could" have from them !!

Certain pain medications can make you feel nauseous. Some narcotics (Demerol a.k.a. meperidine a.k.a. pethidine) and most NSAIDs (ibuprofen a.k.a. Motrin a.k.a. Advil; naprosyn a.k.a. naproxen, are common examples) have the side effect of making your stomach upset.

Injections of Demerol are commonly given with dimenhydrinate (Dramamine/Gravol) to counteract this side effect. NSAIDs should be taken with food or shortly after eating to prevent stomach upset.

Try having something light to eat, like toast and ginger ale to see if that helps. Throw a comfy blanket in the dryer for 15 minutes, make a hot water bottle to hold on your tummy, and then wrap yourself up in the warm blanket and hop into bed.

Kidney stones are hell. I know it's mean to hope for this, but if every guy could have one hour with a kidney stone, they'd have a better understanding and much more respect for women giving birth.

If the stone is still in there it can make you nauseous something awful. I had one a couple mo. ago, and I was barfing all over the place. Have them give you an anti-nausea med like compazine. That's probably (the stone itself) what is making you nauseous.

I totally agree with scully. I would have written the exact post! Renal colic (kidney stone) is the most painful experience I have ever had, I only had it once but it can bring you to your knees some fast. One minute I was mopping the floor and the next I was laying on my bed doubled over in pain. Most people that work in an emergency dept HATE to go there for any problems. Well, I went there and believe me, they knew I was there and IN PAIN, I didn't care if I had to strip for the housecleaning staff, I would have done whatever to get rid of the pain. And yes every man should have one to understand labor, but a kidney stone is WORSE!

I've had kidney stones and I will agree passing them was the worst pain I've ever had, but then I've never had a baby. Vicodin was my savior. Fortunately, they passed in a few days and I haven't had any since.
