Well, it seems that the Holy Spirit (TM) is guiding Little Toe to Dallas March 1st and 2nd. Far be it from me to not plan accordingly! I propose we meet and greet our Brother from Scotland in an appropriate manner. I'm thinking we could meet somewhere and have a big BARBQ. My house is always an option or maybe another of you wants to host or we could have it at a restuarant, or a park if the weather is so permitting. I can get the hook up on some serious BARBQ or I can make it myself, whichever the greater flock decides. We should get a local Apostafest going before then, but I wanted to sew the seeds early so that I didn't end up reaping thorny vines by not giving everyone a chance to plan ahead. Ideas are most welcome. I'll bump this thread occassionaly to make sure everyone gets notification. Love and blessings from the faithless and indiscrete slave.

edited after getting a message from one of those pesky arch angels...how do they get my email address?

    Sincerely,

Wise move, DO. I introduced some English friends to Mexican food and thought I was going to have to get an ambulance. For all their talk of curry and Indian spices, they don't react well to hot sauce and jalapenos. (No offence to our English brethren.) As for BBQ, Sammy's BBQ on Leonard Street, behind the Federal Reserve Bank off Woodall Rodgers, has some killer BBQ and also serves liquor (at least beer). They are open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Red, Hot & Blue at Central and Walnut Hill has pretty good BBQ too and serves liquor (can't have an Apostafest without it!). We could rent Sammy's on Saturday night, BUT it's a $500 deposit, $17.50 per person, and a 50-person minimum. I don't think we have that much in the contribution box, do we?

If we're doing pot luck, Big Tex and I can smoke a turkey as a contribution to this pious event. Keep us posted!

Sounds great! In a few years when I retire, I'm going to make the rounds of apostafests.

Now, most venerable Overbeer, I agree that you may be faithless and indiscreet -- but, a slave??? No way!

    Count me in!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not big on BBQ, but I was thinking..........why don't you ask LT what he wants to try (food) in TX? Or was his request BBQ?

I love taking people to Trail Dust because of the "texas look" and taste to it. Plus the kids have something to do too (the slide). The steak is amazing and I think they have BBQ too. It isn't expensive either. I just think the place says TEXAN (on Fridays and Saturdays they have a live band too, usually they are pretty good and they love to mess with people- so you could tell them we have one from Scotland--no telling what they would do)!!!

    What do you think?????

edited to add----------they also have a FULL bar too, and a dance floor.

Hey Valis--------you think we could get LT to do the "chicken dance"???? LMAO

I'll start thinking about the particulars and keep everyone posted. Could we possibly have a triple threat w/Scotland and Canada represented at a Texas Apostafest? This could bring about Barmageddon you know...

mum...I like being a slave sometimes... BTW, I would slave away for all of JWD at the drop of a dime..

scooter...really dear are you throwing down the gauntlet for dueling Apostafests? We all know who would be victorious....you do remeber all that beer I drank don't you?

eh scoot...we'll see about all that! BTW, I'm also making plans to come and see the Apostates of the Greater North in the summer time...no Greyhound for me though! *LOL* I thought I should give you all fair warning...eheheh

Jesika...that's a great idea. Lets get some input and if the great crowd is in agreement then I say yes! We could also do a secondary/next day thing, perhaps drinks at my house or brunch (no pinching I promise)...I will also contact Trail Dust to see about a large group unless of course you wanna take on the organizing or we can help each other. Alex is truly a lucky man...brains and nice chichis??!!...Can I get an amen?!!!

    Sincerely,
