Howdy y'all,
Myrtle Beach, SC Apostafest & Shaggin'......November 9th, Saturday
Now that everyone thinks it's in MB, it's not......it's in Georgetown (just a steppin' stone from MB).....but it's still in a nice, private Beachclub & is still on the ocean. It's just that everyone would have thought "Where's Georgetown?"
We've got confirmed access Saturday, 11-9, at DeBordieu by the Sea (pronounced as "DebbieDo" by southern locals) just outside Georgetown. My daughter & S-i-l live there. Lol, I can't afford it.....he's a lawyer.
The actual cost of beachclub is $100 & they do clean up. Easy room to roam for at least 100 people, kids welcome, huge outside space also. Fireplaces, grills, kitchen, playground, tables & chairs, etc., and across parking lot from private ocean front. Not fancy. We're hoping for contributions to help cover cost. The food will most likely be "Everybody bring something & your own liquor". Perhaps we can chip in for main meat dish.....or have an oyster shuck (oysters will be in season).
It's off season at the beach and a gazillion hotels within all price ranges. The beach traffic will have slacked off a lot by then, gratefully.
There will be plenty of room for us - pretty much all day, and there's always the ocean if we tire of ourselves......or others. It's usually still warm enough to swim in the ocean too, and there's a pool beside Beachclub.
As to the "Shaggin'" - only after sufficient drinking. The Shag is the State Dance (clarification for our British friends) - and is lovingly referred to as "The Lindy on 'ludes." If ya can't do it.....you'll figure it out - I did & I can't dance. Can't come to MB and not listen & dance to "Beach Music." Btw, my husband is a fine shaggin' teacher.
About 15 of us have already confirmed, another 20 strong *maybes". There will be at least 6 who are mates of xjw's - and their curiosity about the JW cult is great. And there's a couple of *non-active, but still jw's* coming also. Please feel free to email me, ok?
This is our first attempt at this kinda thing, so patience is required. It should be GREAT FUN. Whatcha say? huh? huh?

ps: A novel recently referred to Mrytle Beach as "The Redneck Riviera."
