Your belief after leaving JW

I have noticed that a number of ex JW have become atheists.

How does it outweigh the no. who have become christians?

this is a shockingly thoughtful question! i have wondered the same thing.

when i first came to the board, i posted my deconversion story. in it i said something arrogant. i believe it was along the lines of: "most ex-JWs that leave of their own will, just become love-bombing fundie theists..." or something like that. this was narrow-minded. since i have spent a couple of months on the board, i realize that there are quite a few (a good percentage i would say) that have become agnostic or atheist. i also want to take this opportunity to formally appologize for that arrogant statement in my first post on JWD. i've learned a lot about myself and others since being here.

Some like myself haven't adopted any belief system. I believe in God because of my personal feelings and intuition - no proof per se. I'm happy with that for now ... in the future, who knows? I don't worry about it anymore.

Having been compelled to check all of my premises after leaving, I was fortunate to first read The Age of Reason by Thomas Paine, written in 1696, which set me on an exploratory track, which has not stopped. I have not been a JW for almost 30 years, but I still research ferociously. Based on knowledge, I am now an a-theist, an a-demonist, an a-agelist, an a-fairyist, an a-satantist. I do not buy mysticism in iny form.

Too many ex-jw's have merely switched masters, have never acquired or even begin to rely on their rational faculties and have just resorted to whomever can spin them the next best yarn. Their need to believe overrules their logic and reason, hence wanting to tell everyone of the "real thruth" they found, when in the final analysis, it is yet another version of Christianity, never questioning this fabrication called the "Bible".

That was the impression that I had of "apostates", since the only ones that I knew of prior to my internet discoveries were that way. This forum dispelled those notions with the quickness.

I managed to escape the frying pan, so I think I'll pass on the fire.

After leaving, i went to fundie love bonging churches for about 2 yrs. I wasn't so much a believer then, as an explorer. For instance, if it was explained that all of the followers of jesus had power over demons, i was ready to give it a shot. I assisted in an exorcism. Fortunately, i never tried the walking on water thing.

Anyways, that all came to an end when i found out about the fakeness of the bible. Since then, i'm not much of a believer in anything, just an explorer.
