OK, I lived in New York City for six years and my wife, Joy, got me to the plays twice. This time I traveled nearly twelve hundred miles and it was worth it. Good Faith is so good we all went back the next day to see it again.

It is actually a musical about the life of Richard Rawe: his conversion to the JW's, activity as a zealous preacher, persecution during war, difficulties with the system and unloving brothers, his and his wifes unjust disfellowshipping and his dissillusionment with the Watchtower organization.

It was written by Harold Dean James who IS an exjw. He also did the music as well as directed the play.

WHEN If you can possibly make it you can see the play between now and December 7 on Thursdays thru Sunday at 8:00 pm. There is also a Sunday matinee at 2:30.

WHERE At 74A East 4th Street, take the "V" or the "F" train to 2nd Avenue and go north to West 4th Street. Below is a review. Be patient. Some will come slow, others will come later. May have to hit refresh.

Richards first contact with the JWs as a young man

    Candidate for baptism

Richard is a Preacher of the good news now VIDEO CLIPs, Let God In. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/user/jst2laws/LetGodin(LQ).wmv

    But war breaks out

About to be beaten for refusal to salute the flag

He stirs the crowds with his preaching, (remember this is a musical) Ok, for a VIDEO CLIP of the "preaching work" click below. Remember the playwright had to make it appeal to the general audience so you will not find this in a Kingdom Hall but it is a sample of the music.

Zealous converts to the congregation, waving Watchtowers in the air Most rejecting the message (big surprise) really well done by artists http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/user/jst2laws/Nothanks1(LQ).wmv http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/user/jst2laws/Nothanks2(LQ).wmv

Bad news from WT headquarters. Two evil elders are being sent to help out

Richard meets the two evil elders, Brother Reap and Brother Sow. Trouble is beginning

The Judicial Committee, Jealous Brothers Reap and Sow start on Sister Rawe, and DF them both

The Shunning. Disfellowshipped on false charges. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/user/jst2laws/DFedandShunned(LQ).wmv

Disillusioned and devastated Richard and Francis. Coming to the realization that it was not God's organization.

Joy and I will be adding comments as we can. I hope some of you can support this work by attending.

Joy told me so much about the play on the phone this morning..............now I want to see it. I can only hope it becomes a big success and lasts longer than 3 weeks.

The play really moved me to past experieces, you know the ones we lock away and not deal with when we are JWs.

I thought it was well done, music and all, to capture the feelings of JWs in such a short time. I wish I could get the soundtrack because the songs were so good.

I really hope anyone who can get a chance to see this play will do so. Many non jws in the audience were surprised by how the JWs treat (shun) fellow JWs.

Harold did a very good job, imho. BRAVO, Harold and cast & crew.

Just curious, how large was the audience? Was it well received?

LaMaMa only seats 99 people and opening night was sold out. (You know, friends of actors/actresses/playwrights, etc) Friday night the house was half filled.

I was curious to see what brought local New Yorkers to see the film and their response. Some were just theater goers and enjoyed new plays, but everyone hurried off the second night we went, that I didn't get much feed back.

    Jerry,

Don't know. The second show nite Harold James seemed to be locked into an interview with someone but we are not sure. Maybe someone local will let us know.
