Went to the meeting (first time in a month) last night. They had this skit on Telephone Witnessing. The bro and sis, were dressed up, but hey it was a meeting. Then the brother giving the talk said, "did you notice how they were dressed? Even though we are at home, we should dress like we would for a meeting when taking part in telephone witnessing."

WHAT?!!! Who cares how you are dressed. Being in Jeans or shorts or pajamas was the only good part of telephone witnessing. Why in the he!! Would you need to dress up to carry on a phone conversation? Crazy People!!!!

Then there was a part from the KM on the new printing facility taking place in Wallkill as opposed to Brooklyn because the space at Wallkill is bigger and can handle the new machines. They went on and on about how much work was being done and how great the new printing presses would be. Then the brother on stage said "You are probably wondering how you can help?" (Not really, I am fighting sleep here) "Well, this process is going to be quick, too quick to organize laborers to come and help, they have all the help they need right now at bethel, but we can help. As you know, nothing in this world but the truth is free. How much will this upgrade cost you may ask? $50,000,000!!!!! Fifty Million Dollars. So even though we can go and physically help we can help by donating to the World Wide Work."

GIVE ME A BREAK PEOPLE!!!!! I will let you guys comment, I am just to irritated to start on that one!!!! No Wait, One Comment. They are too stingy to give people water or do something to help those walking home during the blackout. They are too stingy to set up a help center during the WTC bombing or to offer assistance of some kind to those coming out of the debris, but they can spend FIFTY MILLION on more printing. Good Christian Work it is I tell you. Good Christian Work. (Insert sarchasm where needed)

Let me see if I got it straight: They want you to contribute your money to buy a new $50,000,00 printing press, to print more books and magazines, that you will pay for at the literature counter, go out and spend your valuable time and gas money foisting them on placing them with people for a donation, which you will then in turn fork back over to the society, buy more literature and do it again, every week.

WHAT A GREAT DEAL! This will earn your salvation and buy you a place in Jehovah's "memory!!"

How much more worthwhile is this than to feed hungry people?

Oh, why oh why did I ever leave??

Sometimes I think the WTS has a sense of humor. "Let's see if they do this, if we print it!" I think they're playing jokes sometimes because they have the power of a puppeteer. If they told the R&F that it's a good idea to shove your thumb up your ass when you pray, a lot of people would have brown thumbs.

Watchtower needs money again. What a wonderful project handed down from Jehovah himself!

"This is what Jehovah of armies has said, "We gotta pump out more Watchtowers! Buy more presses! Ask my believers for the money"".

What I thought was bad about the article is that they made it sound as if they're expanding, rather than replacing their current facilities. The article said nothing about the sale of the 360 Furman building, for example.

But of course, that's to be expected, since the r&f would be far less inclined to contribute for the $50 million, if they knew that the Society was getting $120 million from selling just one building.

Yes Elsewhere, they were serious. It was crazy really. You should have heard the magazine they used in the skit. It was on farming. So the sister on the "phone" said "We were talking to people today about farming" I just about died laughing. It took all composure I could muster not to.

I did telephone witnessing the last few years as an active JW. I always was by myself so I dressed however, nightgown, shorts, etc., drinking coffee and reading the paper.

The few times I did meet with the "group," it was enlightening. Five people but only one phone line. The others would gossip about others in the congregation, have fabulous food, laugh when someone was talking to a householder, watch TV....

I think we are missing the main point here. This could certainly work to ones advantage in telephone witnessing.

We have been taught numerous times about how to deal with "conversation stoppers" in the ministry.

Being dressed up when we are one the phone, if a person says he/she is not interested, we could simply pause a few seconds and then ask the question, "Do you know what I'm wearing now?"

I don't get it. Jesus wore what was common to the people, Jesus didn't wear a "'dress" robe or a purple robe to proclaim God's Kingdom and he was walking among people. Why do they think that when you are not being seen you have to wear your Sunday best?
