Who ARE These People?

It bears reminding people that there are a number of very high ranking men in Brooklyn who are quite aware that the practice of disfellowshiping for just-about-anything is totally unscriptural. They are aware of stories like the young girl who committed suicide did so because her sister caught her smoking a cigarette and threatened to turn her in. They are aware that their blood transfusion policy is not supported by scripture and that approximately 10,000 JWs were not given a chance to save their lives as a result. They know that children under their spiritual charge are taught to lie in court about JW life in custody cases. They know because they wrote the book that tells them how to do it.

These very few men also know that if they came forward and stood for what they know to be true, they would be on the streets with no retirement, no money and no real job skills. They know that by remaining silent they will retire in comfort and leisure in the fabulously elegant Patterson resort. There are only a very, very few of these men and they control almost every aspect of life for the six million people who worship them and their words and policies.

Because they care more for their own retirement benefits than the hundreds of thousands of families they've destroyed, the countless thousands of suicides they've caused, the ten thousand senseless deaths they've caused, the general malaise and misery of six million human beings they force to slave for their benefit and wealth, they are the worst kind of narciscistic human scum imaginable.

Those very few men could better the lives of six million human beings and stop the ongoing needless misery and death with a single stroke of the pen, but they won't. They would rather sit and watch their followers die than jeopardize their retirements and the religious empire they've created for their own benefit. They turn their backs on the very people they claim they serve. They don't go after the one, lost sheep as Jesus said to do. They drive sheep into senseless tragedies like the recent murder/suicide of two good human beings and four very innocent children for merely pointing out the hypocrisy they live and promote.

These men KNOW that what they are doing is wrong. These are not misguided or deluded men, but men who are acutely AWARE that what they are doing is wrong and even deadly. How can they go to their graves knowing that they have and will sacrifice the lives of so many people just so they can themselves have a few more years of living in comfort?

How can these people live with themselves knowing that they have the power to stop what they are doing?

    Who are these people?

Put them in another part of the earth or a different time and they are Muslim religious leaders, Jewish religious leaders, Christian religious leaders of the Spanish Inquisition and other atrocities, Hindu religious leaders, Buddhist religious leaders etc.

It's just plain old damn religion! Ironically the greatest affront to God has been religion! If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Point well taken Farkel. However, on an individual level I think it is also worth reminding that when we use language that says religion, other people or the bible (simply a book, information) MAKE you do this or that, it is simply not true. None of those things can MAKE you believe this or that. Influence, yes, and the influence may be strong, but if you choose to buy into it that is you, not them. Of course, children are impressionable and it is certainly worse in those cases, but this isn't about placing blame. Frankly, if you want to move on and heal you just have to start making your own choices and think for yourself, and reacting to the WTS or whatever is NOT it.

P.S. - It doesn't mean you do not care or not engage in the work of exposing the truth, you are simply not letting yourself be emotionally hijacked. In fact, I imagine the work will be more effective if that's the case.

To KNOW that one is doing wrong, and do it anyway - makes a person a sinner (if one believes in God.) It also makes the person unethical, lawless, hardened of heart, no conscience.

HOW? By closing their eyes, their minds, and their hearts. They accept no responsibility for the pain they cause. They reason that they're doing "God's Will."

    Thanks for the thread, Farkel.

    Farkel,

Could it be that the GB actually think their course of actions is correct- by thinking they are doing what God wants? These deaths- could it be that the GB thinks these are sacrifices to Jehovah? Could the GB actually think these things are right with God?

I don't think so, because each and every GB member know goddamn good and well that "Jehovah" never said a fucking word to them. They know goddamn good and well that the "holy spirit" never moved them to say or do or write ANYTHING.

The GB's mind set is exactly as Farkel writes. Exactly.

    Excellent post, Farkel.

One question: Is 10,000 the number who have died refusing blood since the society created the policy? How is this number arrived at? I've never known if it was hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands.

    Thanks,

: Could it be that the GB actually think their course of actions is correct- by thinking they are doing what God wants?

I wasn't necessarily talking about the GB, Tom. There are a number of movers and shakers who influence the GB, too. Remember that Nathan Knorr said he "didn't know" about the 1914 doctrine, Dan Sydlik said that they should scrap ALL their doctrines and start over with Genesis 1:1, and Lyman Swingle said they got all their apocalyptic prediction bullshit from the Second Adventists, "lock, stock and barrel."

You're goddamn right they know they are wrong on blood and many other things.

    Hmmm,

I believe it was Lee Elder who mentioned that approximate figure. Of course, it can only be guestimated over the decades the blood ban has been in force. The society would never publish such a thing, although I'd bet good money, they have a pretty accurate accounting. Not because they care, though, but because of legal reasons. Human lives don't count to them. Protection from lawsuits do.
