Born in or brought in observation

I was a born in JW. I suppose I could best be described now as an athiest. I have a hard time understanding how someone can figure out the JW scam and then become a born again christian. I have several born in ex-JW friends that feel the same way. I also have an ex-JW friend who was not born in but still believes in god. So, my observation is that it seems born in's are more likely to not get involved in another religion and become athiests or agnostics, whereas brought in's, since they were searching when they found the JW's, continue on with their search after leaving and latch onto something else, many times being born again. What do you think?

heh, ya i could see that observation being somewhat acurate.

i was born into it for all intents and purposes. shortly after my first birthday, my mom started studying.

i have thought lately, that as a fundy, like a jw, i was already an atheist. i categorically rejected other people's gods. it wasn't a big stretch to switch-blade the last one, jehovah.

of course, the reasons for my rejecting those other faiths were different. JWs say that other god's do not exist because only jehovah could be the true god, because it says so right here in this here bible.

it's interesting, xians that are here for support from the WTS. but the WTS was just imitating jehovah in their ignorance and arrogance.

it would suck to have to switch web sites every few years until you realize xianity in general is just a sham.

    and then there's iidb.org.

I was thinking about it and it's hard for me to compare b/c all but one of the exjws I know were born into it. Interestingly, though, the one that was not is now very into things like tarot cards, astrology, etc., which I think are total b.s.

Not born in. Healthy spirituality before coming in at 17 - 20. I lost faith in my great spirit kind of grandfather god when I was 14. Was allowed nearly to die by the neglect of my mother at that time. Became agnostic. Explored all kinds of religions, eastern, astrology as well. Still believe there is a great spirit, god and goddesses, something bigger than all of us, never really believe in a conventional chiristian god. Can you tell I'm tired?

I think most of us are evenly divided...whether born in, or raised in it from an early age, as I was...I believe in God...what I don't believe in any longer is religion, or holy books, or saintly leaders...don't feel the need to evangelize, tell people about "my God" and such. For me believing in God doesn’t mean I know what he expects or wants for anybody else. He's there, I'm here, doing the best with what I've got. Makes no difference what your focus is: atheist, agnostic, church goer, pagan, Wicca or witch or any of the other hundreds of belief systems. It's the good you do with your life, that's what matters. Simple.

    "BIA" -- Born In Agnostic.

After a childhood of Jehovah, he really did "withdraw his spirit from me" as threatened. I have no positive feelings for any of man's religions. I believe the origins of our universe are beyond the realm of human comprehension, and, in light of the fact that life is short, one ought to focus on enjoying the life they know for sure is a reality, and avoid coveting an eternity on an earth inhabited solely by Jehovah's Witnesses and vegetarian lions and tigers.

Yeah I was born in and I certainly have no need to be mired in more religious obligations now either. The same as my best friend who left and was also born in.

    Not sure...

I was born in but now would be called an athiest and this is true with the rest of my siblings except my older sister who's born again. My mom joined and teeters between athieism and some kind of pagan crap I don't understand. --all you pagans don't get mad at me, ok? Just being honest is all...

Born in and raised a JW.

I wasn't looking for anything else but was "Born Again" while still in. The change in paradigm send me out within a few short months.
