January 1 WT Contradicts Itself!

Compare these two quotes from the January 1, 2007 Watchtower page 30 and 31:

"The First Resurrection"--Now Under Way! (page 30, para 18)

    18) God's Word does not disclose a precise date for the first resurrection, but it does reveal that it occurs over a period of time, during Christ's presence. The first to be resurrected are anointed Christians who died before Christ's presence began. As Christ's presence progresses, anointed Christians who faithfully finish their earthly course are changed "in the twinkling of an eye" into powerful spirit creatures. (1 Corinthians 15:52) Will all the anointed receive their heavenly reward before the war of Armageddon? We do not know. We do know, however, that in God's due time, all the 144,000 will be found standing on the heavenly Mount Zion.

Questions From Readers: What is the sealing referred to at Revelation 7:3? (page 31)

When will the remnant of anointed Christians who have initially been sealed receive their final sealing? Any still alive on earth will be sealed "in their foreheads" before the outbreak of the great tribulation. When the four winds of tribulation are unleashed, all of spiritual Israel will have been sealed in finality, even though a few will still be alive in the flesh and must yet finish their earthly course.

Sounds like a contradiction to me. Nice pick up V. (ps - I liked the movie your avatar is based on)

Can we get a scan to share with our family and relatives in the troof?

Now, now, V, you mustn't be forgetting that Armageddon is the final act of the great tribulation, so all the WT is saying is that all of the anointed will be "sealed" before the GT, and that some may actually make it into and partway through the GT, but whether any of them make it through the very last phase of the GT (Armageddon) is not certain.

But then (as Justitia Thomas quoted from the 1995 Watchtower http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/128912/2283387/post.ashx#2283387):

It is worth repeating that, fine as it is to be clear on these specifics, there is no need for any Christian to be overly word conscious

(Geez, I could almost pass for a good little JW with that explanation, couldn't I? )

Its not a contradiction. The GT, which is an indeterminate length of time (some assert that Revelation suggests 3.5 to 7 years) precedes Armageddon. Armageddon is the 'climax' of the GT. So all the WT is saying is that some of the anointed will still be 'alive on the earth' during the GT, but it is not known whether they will still be alive when Armageddon starts.

    Dear V,

Thank you!! I am going to print this for my files. This ties in perfectly with my recent conversation I had with my Grandmother. Trying to show her that Jehovah doesn't make mistakes. Mistakes are made by men, trying to run men.

    Great work!!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

    Absolute contradiction!!!

I see we have a few JW sympathisers posting tonight because if they can't see the condiction here they can't be reason with on anything.

Yes, I agree that it is a contradiction, albeit not a very big one. The four winds of Rev.7.1 are held back until the climax of the Gt trib.

    chap.19pp.113-115pars.3-4SealingtheIsraelofGod***

"Before Jehovah unleashes this fury, heavenly angels perform a special service. John now beholds this in vision: "AfterthisIsawfourangelsstandinguponthefourcornersoftheearth,holdingtightthefourwindsoftheearth,thatnowindmightblowupontheearthorupontheseaoruponanytree."(Revelation7:1) What does this mean for us today? These "four winds" are a vivid symbol of destructive judgment about to be let loose on a wicked earthly society, on the surging "sea" of lawless humanity, and on lofty treelike rulers that draw support and sustenance from the people of the earth.—Isaiah 57:20; Psalm 37:35, 36.

    4

No doubt, these four angels represent four angelic groups, whom Jehovah uses to hold back the execution of judgment until the appointed time. When the angels release those winds of divine wrath to whirl at one time from north, south, east, and west, the devastation will be tremendous. It will resemble, but on a stupendous scale, Jehovah’s use of the four winds to scatter the ancient Elamites, shattering and exterminating them. (Jeremiah 49:36-38) It will be a gigantic storm wind far more devastating than the "tempest" by which Jehovah annihilated the nation of Ammon. (Amos 1:13-15) No part of Satan’s organization on earth will be able to stand in the day of Jehovah’s fury, when he vindicates his sovereignty for all eternity to come.—Psalm 83:15, 18; Isaiah 29:5, 6."

So why do they say on p31 of this mag, "A few will still be alive"?...........But if I were still dubbing , I would just shrug and say that it shows that we don't know everything.........

This just proves that the end is getting extremly close.

Old Light followed by New Light in the same magazine means that things are moving along quickly.

The work has really speeded up.
