No longer to use "house to house record" slips and "please follow up slips"!
by stuckinarut2 ina letter has just been read out indicating that effective immediately, witnesses are no longer to use the s-8 slip known as the "house to house" record slip, as well as the s-43 "please follow up" slip (usually used for foreign language people).. the letter stated that this is because of the changes in privacy laws etc that are becoming common in the world today.. i will try and get a copy of the full letter and post it asap.. .

Do Jehovah witnesses exploit the most vulnerable in society?
by Blind_Of_Lies induring my final few years being active with the jws i noticed that the vast majority of people who were studying or joining the group in general where those that the rest of society would consider disabled and/or severely mentally ill. now by disabled i dont mean i lost my leg in nam kind of disabled... in some cases these people were mentally retarded, had the minds of children, were severely abused as children or even as adults and as a result had personality disorders that put them on the edge of society.... and then we had the full on crazies... about 15 years ago one of the brothers who worked at the local welfare office somehow started a study with a person who was a paranoid schizophrenic.
he met her because she was a client of the welfare office.
she got handed off to a sister who studied with her, then started driving her to her doctors appointments, and to get grocerys, and took her to congregation events.

I thought to post this here since the subject is related to this thread.
Though Nepal has never been part of the Commonwealth, the Gurkhas have fought under the Union flag since 1815, when their bravery and tenacity in skirmishes with the East India Company was so impressive that they were invited to join the British Army.
It is estimated that 45,000 of their soldiers have since died for this country, and they have been awarded the Victoria Cross on 26 occasions.
The campaign for all Gurkhas to be allowed to settle in Britain began after it emerged that only those who retired after 1997 — when their base moved from Hong Kong to Aldershot — would be permitted to live here. But it really captured the public’s imagination when Miss Lumley — enormously popular after her role in the TV sitcom Absolutely Fabulous — took up the cudgel
Because they are so unhappy and homesick, you see them in the churches and religious halls, too, particularly those of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who are said to have converted hundreds from Hinduism and Buddhism after a slickly targeted recruitment drive.

"It's the intent that counts and not the result."
by donny in"it's the intent that counts not the result.".
i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

Very interesting. The brother's response reminds me of Hayden Covington's testimony at the Douglas Walsh trial where he said that they believed and were sure that God was using the WTS org, and the governing body to direct it, even though mistakes are made from time to time. The mistakes he admitted under oath were false prophecy- erroneous , mistaken and false statements.
Nothing has changed since then. JWs continue to use the same reasoning to justify preaching false prophecy.

Night and Day from GB to Writing committee? Someone explain?
by thedepressedsoul inim sure by now most of you are familiar with anthony morris talk from this weekend.
im even seeing memes posted all over instagram from jw mocking it.. here is my question, why are the things written so different from how the gb members, like anthony morris are?
i know the gb dont actually write the stuff but i was under the impression that they come up with the spiritual light pass if off to the writing committee and they put it in the publications.

They have probably been warned by their lawyers not to have in writing anything that can be incriminating.
I guess all the GB members have pet subjects. The dressing and grooming articles are curtesy of AM3.
No current WTS oracle?

Those that married a Ministerial Servant, Would you do it again?
by Quarterback inso, did you make a good choice?
was waiting for a ms really worth it?.
.

SaritaJ
Good choice depends on the person's,personality (which includes qualities like personal integrity, being reasonanable and reliable etc) not his position in a man made organization. It also helps if he loves you
Some MSs and Elders are known for leading double lives and are up to all sorts of bad behaviour while presiding over the sheep. Some elders have even kept second families while sitting in on JCs and disfellowshipping jws for sexual immorality I know several of those.Good choice? I wonder if their wives would think so.
Ed. To Add
This marry an MS only rule is not new. I know an CO who had a special interpretation of the marry only in the lord command:
Publishers marry only publishers
Pioneers only...Bethelites only...
Missionaries only...
He stopped short of saying whites ....

Zone video meeting links or transcripts
by undercover ini've enjoyed reading many of the reports from our brothers in foreign... wait... that's not right.
let's try again.... i've enjoyed reading many of the reports from those who either experienced it first hand, or got reports from family still, the video zone meeting, complete with a gb member rambling about spanx and yoga pants.. is there a video of this momentous event, or at least a transcript of the entire meeting and its contents?.

Thanks for this.
Herd's comment is indeed very interesting: "at bethel you are at the top of the ladder of Jehovah's work".
Silly me I thought we were all brothers. Jesus "our leader" must be wrong.

& They Say Privileges In The Congregation Isnt a Status
by thedepressedsoul inim sure you all have heard at one point or read that being an elder or ms isnt a position higher up but rather that you work under the congregation.. anthony morris just threw that out the window!
i have privileges in the congregation and even i was offended and felt bad for anyone who was 23 or older and not a ms!.
he goes on to tell this story of how a sister wanted to marry a brother and that anthony morris discouraged it because he was 23 and not an ms yet.
-
SaritaJ
Wow, if being 23 and not an MS is a sign of immaturity, what does that say about Jesus who waited to get baptized at 30 only to give 31/2 years of his life to the preaching work?
Thats just guiltripping jws.We all know you have to suck up to the elders to be an MS.And if one of them has a personal vendetta then you will never be one.
It helps if your daddy is an elder or wealthy. That's a fact.

Don't bother reading this
by disposable hero of hypocrisy ini'm just bored.
i'm currently (right now) running a mic up and down the aisles, recognising the faulty logic, one line platitudes, and indoctrination techniques.
i like posting while on active duty.

Zone Visit: An Announcement That Will "Test Your Faith"
by breakfast of champions inthis is the scuttlebutt in one of the "bethel congregations" by us.. no details as to exactly what this "faith-testing" announcement might be.. anyone else hear any of this pre-zone visit hype?.
.

Listener: I am starting to think that this was the actual test of faith that would be presented at this meeting. The JWs on JWTalk passed the test with flying colours. It would seem that the GB deliberately came up with such stupid comments (eg coloured socks) to see how the r&f would react so that they are aware of just how easy or difficult it is to make future changes.
@@@@@@@@
That's an interesting point. My 70 year old MIL doesn't understand all the new lights and all the back and forth changes of jw teachings. She says that it's probably Jehovah testing and sifting us. I asked her if he was doing that by giving us false information.Does that make sense? So when will he stop testing us and give us the truth? She couldn't answer that.
Many jws will try to find an acceptable reason as to why things don't add up.But they will not accept that it's because God is not using this organization.

Tony the Turd clearly says, "People say 'God understands.' Well, that's not the god of the bible, that's not the god I know."
There you have it.The announcement that will test jws faith. That is,if they are not too busy gushing over his forthrightness to actually think.
