Bohm- We had a similar discission to the one you are discribing, I used the example of cosmetology school. I told her that when I wanted to learn how to do hair, I researched what was the best school to attend. So when she offered a bible study (over and over again, during numerous visits) (thats a whole different story that I posted about previously, she finally showed up one evening when I had had a few cocktails. I agreed to the study because i figured it would be better to have scheduled visits than her just showing up at random times) Anyways, apon doing some innocent research about some of the things she was saying, I was bombarded with some very negative things about the JWs. I told her that I wasn't purposely trying to find out bad things, but I'm not going to ignore it when it's in front of me. I'm going to see if she actually looks into my claims of false phrophecy, if she dosen't then there's no need to have any further discussions....There already is no need for further discussions!!!! I'm completely convinced that Jehovah's Witnesses do not have the "Truth"!!! I might take Heavens suggestions, I'm going to say my weekends are reserved for sex...oral sex...all weekend long!!!! : )

My JW came over yesterday with a video she wanted to show me, I forget what it was called but it was about the history of the Watchtower.
Normaly I don't have a problem discussing the bible with her, but I just could't sit through this BS video. I already know the history of the watchtower,
and it certianly isn't what this video was going to portray. Anyways my intention was to end our study. I feel it is a waste of both of our times, I know too much about this religion, and I want no part of it. So I had her stop the video and I explained that although I don't know the bible that well, I can tell when something just dosen't feel right. She knows I go on an "apostate" websight, and she thinks I'm confuseing myself by listening to bitter people. I told her the bottom line is that I don't care what I believed the truth was theres no way in hell I could ever shun my children or people I care about because they don't believe what I do anymore, it feels very un christian to me. (btw I don't believe any of the JW propaganda) I said if God did give me this life that I don't think he intended me to waste it by walking around thinking to myself how bad it is, telling people how bad it is,and expecting something better. I said I have beuatiful things in my life, and yes there are "wicked" people out there but I'm not constantly looking over my shoulder, basicly she knows that I don't believe there are any of the signs that we are in the end times. I said that I don't believe that the WT is Gods organisation, I told her about the settelment they had to pay because of their policy on dealing with child molesters (she had no idea). Well, after a lot of back and forth, I finally said, look, a lot of the bible can be manipulated, taken out of context to support certian beliefs, but one thing that is very clear to me is what it says about false prophets, and in their own magazines they have implied, and sometimes claimed to be phrophets. She said thats something she would be interested in, but not comming from apostate sites. I told her all she has to do is look up some of the watchtowers older plubications. She said well what do you want to do now? I said well, I think maybe I should go to church, and see how I feel about that. She asked me if I would also go to the Kingdom Hall, and I was like. you know what? sure. I'll go. But last night I looked up and wrote down dates and page numbers of WT publications, along with some pretty damning quotes that she can look up for herself. I don't want to make her have doubts in her religion, but she is so persistant! Anyways isn't that what she is trying to do to me? I'm sure even after reading those things, who knows if she actualy will, she will work it out in her mind that they are not false prophets. So in my effort to end my study I somehow ended up agreeing to go to the Kingdom Hall. My husband and friends find this hilarious. Oh well.

I'm going to end my "bible" study
by KristiKay ini posted a while back, i've been studying with a nice jehovas witness lady for probably about 6 months.
after a few weeks i googled a few things (earthquakes, how long we've been on earth, ect.
) i realised she was very misinformed.

Jimmy, It was a combination of things. When my usual lady comes over she is very gracious, she dosen't want to overstay her welcome, I can tell she's careful not to offend me. This lady walked into my house with an air about her. I'm going to quote someone else from here, a combination of " ignorance and arrogance", discribes her perfectly. She talked down to me, at one point she said " you know, some people accept a bible study only so they can argue with us" She had a southern accent that added to the whole thing ( I'm not trying to offend any one from the south ;) ) I felt really sorry for my lady, because I could tell she was a little nervous and trying to do a good job. I wanted to say, "quit trying to impress this stupid bitch!!!" but I didn't :( I probably should have, it would of solved my problem!

Hi everyone
I posted a while back, I've been studying with a nice Jehovas Witness lady for probably about 6 months. After a few weeks I googled a few things (earthquakes, how long we've been on earth, ect.) I realised she was very misinformed. Then I realised she had no intrest in learning anything from me, she just wanted to convince me of her, what I consider to be bizarre, logic. The more I looked into things, I learned how distructive this religion is. I started to get a little angry. How can someone come to my house and try to pull me into this religion, wich could eventually cause problems for me and my family, when they won't even look into anything negative anyone has to say about the organisation. I felt this was almost irresponsible. I know she's not intending to harm me, I feel she whole heartedly believes everything she says, but I'm thinking to myself how can she encourage me to look into all the bad things that the catholoic church has done, but she would never do the same with the WT. The thing that I couldn't believe was the issues she brought up about the church (pedifiles, mistranslateing the bible, supporting Hitler) are things the WTS has done. I'm like, are you kidding me? I haven't ever brought these things up to her, because I don't want to be rude. I kindof mentioned the UN thing but she quickly dismissed it.
So anyways, every week I gather all this information to explaine my concerns about the JWs, and when Tuesday comes around, I completely chicken out!! I don't know what it is! I think I don't want to hurt her feelings. Oh and a couple weeks ago she brought her COs wife with her, and that was really disturbing! If this woman would have come knocking on my door I would of had no problem slamming the door in her face.
So basically, I think I'm just going to say that this religion is not at all for me, I would have to suspend my intelligence, and rational thought, and I'm not about to do that. Does anyone have any suggestions for somethings I can say to at least put some questions in her mind about the bullshit she's spreading? She's a nice lady, I feel bad that she has devoted her entire life to this.

Where do I start...
by KristiKay ini stumbeled across this site after doing some research about earthquakes and "end times".
i've had a jw comming to my home for quite a while just stopping by, and she finally convinced me to agree to a "bible study".
i was intoxicated at the time i agreed and i figured it would be better to have a set time for her visits rather then her just showing up at random times.

Thanks for the advice guys, here are some of the things I've brought up to her: John 1:1, Romans 14, Colossians 2:16, I've asked her, " Don't you think if Jesus starting ruleing in 1914 it would be undisputable?" I've explained the reason there are more RECORDED earthquakes. I've pionted out that 100 years ago her religion was unrecognizable as it is today, Ive brought up organ transplants and how the WT doctrins have changed (1967-1980) and how people have lost their lives. I mean the whole false phrophecy thing, you don't have to know the blble to know what it says about that! It's amazing to me how she has worked that out in her mind! It's sad how completly brianwashed she is! She puts herself to sleep listening to the WT and AWAKE on an mp 3!! She is a very nice lady, and I am very aware of her agenda, at some point I'm sure I'll tire of this "bible study", it lost some it's luster when I realized that she refuses to believe anything other then what the WT says, because of coarse it's "Gods Organisation". Its interesiting to me that people can blindly believe what ever someone else tells them!

I stumbeled across this site after doing some research about earthquakes and "end times". I've had a JW comming to my home for quite a while just stopping by, and she finally convinced me to agree to a "bible study". I was intoxicated at the time I agreed and I figured it would be better to have a set time for her visits rather then her just showing up at random times. Well to make a long story short, at first this religion seemed reasonable to me, because I have no real knowlege of the bible, until she got to the end times stuff. When she told me there are all these signs that we are now living in the end times and the amount of earthquakes we have now prove it, I thought I had better look into this. Well a quick google search disproved that theory, and the more research I have done, I honestly can't believe anyone would believe this stuff. So now I'm stuck with this "bible study". At first I thought that I better bring some things to her attention about her false religion, but apparently she is trained (brainwashed) to argue, and because of my lack of biblical knowlege, she can always pick out scriptures to disprove my points. Oh well, she has told me I'm a challenge. That's where I'm at now. Next week she is bringing her COs wife with her, I think I'll just let her go through her lesson uninterupted. At this point I don't mind her visits, but I have told her that I don't want her wasteing her time. She assured me that weather or not I convert, she's doing what she needs to do for her religion. I just wanted to say hi, and thank you guys for giving me some in sight on how distructive this cult really is.
