just got back from memorial.
only went so that i could say to my parents that i had gone and to remind myself why i left.. oh my word!!!
it was sooooo painful.. got there a bit late - it was a couple of minutes into the talk.
i was begged to go by a relative visiting from out of town...so i told her to call the local kh
to find out the time of the memorial... well after calling several times no one answered the phone.
which i was quite pissed about. how is it the biggest night of the year for JW's and yet
you have no one answering the phones. what about the public seeking to attend? you know the ones
that they preach to constantly? so we called another cong. same thing no one answering the phone.
some circuit overseers leave lasting impressions either for good or bad.
others i barely remember.
three that had the most impact on me were rodricks (that's how it's pronounced, not sure of the spelling), casino and shepherd.
I remember RL Jones...he was really down to earth. He used to tell me "hold your head high but keep your nose at a friendly level"
because Jw's in my area had a bad habit of looking down on people.
his advice about marriage was "marriage is like a shirt you can change your shirt but the same person is still wearing it"
very loving brother.
if they could guarantee me that, in paradise, i could be permanently 25 y.o.
and date the entire cadre of women's halfpipe contenders from tonight ... i am so there..
i always thought those paradise pictures were boring. everyone sitting around in the middle of nowhere
on a picnic...i hate picnics...and i hate being in the middle of nowhere.

I remember you....i have a new name too. i tried looking for some of my old posts
but i can't remember my previous name. I have a million log on names and passwords
for work that i have to change constantly. i can't remember anymore. I believe i was poppy or poppie
but the poppie that is listed isnt me...oh well welcome back.
my cousin told me last week that for the month of february she was ''pioneering''.
here is a person who was divorced 2 years ago and had to move in with her mom because she can't afford to live on her own .she only works 4 days a week.
she pays $600 every 2 months for health insurance because she is self-employed.
most of all the pioneers at my kh were sisters who didnt work and husband's took care of them
most of them had husbands that were non-jw's. I hated the way they would bad mouth their
husbands. they always discouraged the younger sisters from pioneering. I think they didnt want
others to know that they werent doing anything special. whenever i would meet for service during
the week (when most pioneers are out everyone else is working) they always had some bible study
that only sister "so n so" could go on. or special return visits that required the help of another pioneer.
i think they were out shopping and eating... counting time. I would go to the mall and lo and behold
i would run into all the pioneers. shopping and preaching? very little door to door was done during the week
oh they saved that for the hard working rank and file. they would have to spend their only days off completing
territory. i used to think "why don't they get some of this done during the week?" they meet at the hall then
go their separate ways doing whatever.
recently i was cleaning my bookcase and found an old book that i enjoyed as a child.
it had stories in it such as paul bunyan, pecos bill, and john henry.
while these stories are fictional, i enjoyed them because they were entertaining, and easy to understand.. fast forward to the late 70's when i was a teenager sitting at the ca hall in janesville wisconsin.. the speaker was explaining the great sacrifice god made in sending his son down to earth to die for all mankind.
I remember how they used to always talk about how "russell, rutherford" (i can't remember which)
was thrown in Jail for the preaching work or whatever. I used to think to myself "so what!"
people have been killed and some have spent half in not their whole lives in jail and have been innocent
so what they spent what a month or two a few days or whatever in jail...

as a kid those smurf stories were horrible. I had to spend a week at the home of some relatives
that were not jw's. In fact they were big time catholics anyway my cousin had a life sized smurf
in the bedroom that i slept in. They had huge dog so i would call her to come in the room so i could get
some sleep. i thought if the smurf moved the dog would bark and warn me. i kept my eye on that smurf
but it never moved or talked:)
