Heavenly Hope
by Quendi inhere are some questions i want to pose to our friends here.
does a person have to be baptized to go to heaven and if one must get baptized, how is this to be arranged and by whom?.
the reason i ask this is many here have professed their belief that they are part of the body of christ, should partake of the emblems whenever they celebrate the lord's supper, and will go to heaven after they die if they have been faithful.

Does a person have to be baptized to go to heaven
No. Whether you go to Heaven or not, I believe in Universal Reconciliation/Universal Salvation.
...and if one must get baptized, how is this to be arranged and by whom?
It is irrelevent. But if you feel the desire, you should arrange it as you see fit.
I still believe that humans can inherit everlasting life on Earth in a physical body.
I don't, but it's not relevent.
For those who have left Jehovah's Witnesses and no longer have anything to do with the organization, how do they view their baptism as Witnesses?
Wet.
Is it valid?
It is irrelevent.
So would baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses make a person eligible to be anointed, or would another baptism be necessary?
That would be a pretty abstract discussion that presupposes there is an "anointed class". It presupposes a lot of framework (which I don't believe in).
Who should baptize Christians?
Anyone the Christian chooses.
And if a person does not get baptized, can s/he still go to heaven after death?
Baptism is irrelevent in my view.
Why should you believe what anyone else has to say on this matter? If you are exiting the Witnesses, why replace the Witness belief with anyone else's belief but your own?
Do you think humans go to Heaven sometimes, go to Earth for everlasting life sometimes?
What do you think qualifies someone for one or the other of these destinations?
Do you think there might be other fates awaiting humans?
Why would there be different fates for different humans? Why would there be different classes of Christians?
Why would you listen to one religion and not another?
Why would you reject one religion and not another?
What do you believe deep in your own heart? Where are you going, and what do you need to do to get there?

JWs and the Family Unit - Calling Maze to defend assertions
by Retrovirus inin the thread about the wt in russia, maze made the assertions below.. .
jehovah's witnesses as an organization acts as a protection to the family unit.
andthe lie that jehovah's witnesses ruin families is apostate poison.. to aviod derailing that thread, i ask maze to defend them here.. my experience is that the jw religion destroyed my brothers' marriage.

Is the Governing Body Guilty or not guilty of 1975 speculations going too far?
by Terry inthe most disengenuous aspect of "official" pronouncements from the society can be identified.. it is in the positioning of the speaker/writer as a passive onlooker commenting on exterior happenings.. this bystander mode is clever by half.. why?
it spoon feeds information without taking any active personal responsibility.. sort of an "oh gee, wow--look at all this going on" stance, while taking a stand-offish tone, is printed in the official magazines and books approved for publication by the governing body as mouthpiece of jehovah.. think about that.
it is insidious incitement without responsibility.. the person (likely fred franz) who crafted these bulletins had gone through several previous incidents of failure and disappointment and was well aware of the effect of any speculations upon jehovah's witnesses in the past.. this makes what was printed all the more calculated and irresponsible in the extreme.. let us parse the language printed by the watchtower society with careful attention to what is said and left unsaid.. w68 8/15 p. 494 why are you looking forward to 1975?.

Are intelligent people less likely to believe in God?
by Snoozy inprofessor richard lynn says so.
in doing research he says :.
"the more intelligent people become the more decline you see in religious service.

I think as a person becomes more well read and learns more of the world, they may tend to be less superstitious and more reliant on evidence (rather than, say, assertion or supposition).
Also, what LWT and PSac said.

In my experience, yes, sexual immorality can be bad for the JW family: incest, molestation, sexual abuse of their immediate and extended families (not to mention extending that beyond to others in the congregation).
It split up my mom from my aunt for nearly 50 years.
The only "protection" in this case is protection of the molester - no one is allowed to call them on it, and when it is brought up it is hushed up.
Just my experience.
And isn't it wonderful when the religion mandates couples stay married, despite emotional and physical abuse? I can't even count the times I've seen that in the various congregations we attended.
Or the abuse the religion promotes: wives being subservient to their husbands in all things.
I think I'll pass.

They may be trying to break out - but I wouldn't Friend them without some outside contact first to see where they are at.

God \ Universe
by ballistic inhi there, i don't claim this is true, it just came to me just now, perhaps you can point out any logical errors etc i've made or any other conclusions?.
.
there may be or may not be a god.. there is definately a universe.. the universe may have been created by god or may have come into existance of it's own accord.. neither the universe nor god can come into existance at a particular point in time as there was no time prior to the universe - it didn't exist.. only at the universe's creation did time begin therefore god never existed for a certain amount of time prior to it.. my conclusion is that god is the universe or the universe has always existed along with god?.

There is much thought that leads to the notion that before space, there was no time. This merely means that before the existence of the universe as we know it, there was no time dimension to move through. As has been discussed at length on this board, timeless is just another context. We have as little context to understand timeless as do to understand existence without space dimensions.
As far as labeling something "God", you can make up anything you want and call it "God". That's all that's ever been done in the past anyway.
