Yes I saw it while I was in and then again after I was out. Amazing how much different it was to watch the second time!! That and the Matrix trilogy. So different to watch after you've uncovered the truth. You notice there are the same elements that control Truman that control in the WTS: 1. Fear 2. Keeping busy in your everyday routine 3. Squashing aspirations (like travel) as frivolous

When I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s I remember conventions at Warwick Farm Racecourse, Sydney. We used to have to walk for like a km from where we parked the car to get to the grandstands. But I didn't mind cause it was a nice walk. Come to think of it, isn't it pretty ironic that the JWs hired a racecourse and would thereby be supporting the gambling industry? Be a bit of extra temptation for the reformed gambler with many of the odds boards left out in view and even a few horses traning on the track (which were fun to watch during boring talks). Apart from the talks mostly boring me senseless while I ticked of all mentions of 'Jesus' 'Jehovah' 'Satan' and 'Paradise', I enjoyed walking around the grandstands and associated racecourse buildings, it was a lovely place. There was icecream floats in the summer and we mostly sat in a/c comfort upstairs behind glass to watch the sessions, or you watch the tv screens. The book room was vast in those days and I used to like going in there and seeing all the brand new multicoloured books... I just liked the smell of new books. So I have pretty fond memories of the session breaks at Warwick Farm, the sessions were still incredibly boring to me as a child and I ticked each talk off gleefully in a countdown towards the next break. I also liked those assemblies because the family we stayed with were cool, I loved going to their house.
As I got older I just sat there angry about most of the crap coming from the platform. There are no more asseblies at Warwick Farm, maybe they thought it was getting a bit hypocritical?

What J.W teaching did you find the hardest to accept??
by karter infor me it was the fact that god is allowing all these innocent people to get killed to prove a point ,i mean it was a big bet he had with satan.. i explained it to my wife this way if i had our children killed in the most horriable way just to show they couldn't live without me how does that make me look?.

That animals would continue to die in the Paradise. I couldn't understand why God would create something with the intention that it should die. I still held onto the belief that if I was good enough Jehovah would let my pets live forever, if I was extra good, I prayed for them every night...I always felt guilty cause I thought if I wasn't good enough they would die too . Don't laugh...

Funny I remember asking my Mum the same question when I was about 6 or 7. I don't think she really gave an explanation... I ended up saying that Abel was probably a wool grower and thats why he farmed sheep, and sacrificed one to God. I think that my Mum said the skins for Adam and Eve might have been made by Jehovah without killing any animals, since he could just make the skins, but why not make clothes . And also, I quite like walking around naked...why was it such a problem for Adam and Eve who were perfect? Then there is always the answer that will squash all questions, it goes like this:
The Bible doesn't tell us absolutely everything that happened, otherwise it would be too big for us to ever read. In the New System ™ we will be able to ask Abel himself what happened, and new scrolls will be opened that will help us understand everything...
This doesn't explain why there's not enough in the Bible to explain the most basic questions. Nor does it help with the fact that we cannot fully know the personality of this God we're supposed to be serving if we don't know the answers. If the above explanation didn't work, add some crying, some guilt tripping, and saying that she believes it all after careful research (bulls&%$). I don't think God is very nice if he designed animals to kill each other...

Oh yeah the other comments made me think... there was a couple of MS in our cong who were obsessed with what I wore and always complaining to my parents (and later to my husband) that I might be stumbling younger brothers, but they commented on what I wore in such detail, and they were so nice to my face, I think it was them who had the problem. Ew.
And yes there was amway and vitamin supplements peddlers in our cong too! In fact, i think there is a vitamin co. run by witnesses in Oz, but that may just be a rumor.

We had an 'annointed' sister who was clearly quite a nutcase (though a very nice woman) and her husband was a pedophile and i also heard he molested a sheep. Clearly a godly family.
We had another sister who would never stop talking, you know, the type that talk so fast they begin to spit at you? She would step in closer towards you, and you would take a step back, she would take another step forward, and you would end up dancing around the hall until someone else came and 'saved' you from the conversation.
Then there were the odd 'studying' dero families whose kids would run riot round the hall, funny as hell! They would usually get sick of trying to control their kids after a few Sunday meetings and stop studying.
Oh and we had one family who hated one of the Elders and the whole family stood up and yelled at him when he was giving a talk and had to be removed from the hall.
We also had an elder who no-one wanted to work with in FS cause he would often chat to people about completely irrelevant things before telling them why they were there and the people would be wondering why he was at their house. He would generally put his foot in it and bluntly tell people they were wrong. Actually he literally put his foot in it... I heard he put his foot in the door to stop someone closing it on a couple of occasions

Hi guys! Thanks for all your comments. Sorry I haven't been back for a whilebeen real busy. I will try and figure out how to create a pdf of the mag and upload it.There is another article in it that subtly encourages couples to stay childless with scare tactics about how tragic it could be for them if they leave the 'truth'! Didn't they go through this crap in the '60s? I haven't finished reading the whole thing yet... I can only handle a bit at a time....
