Ok here is my problem.........
by fifi40 ini just read some of the thread about keeping our kids away from jws and their teachings.......this is my situation and any helpful advice would be appreciated.......... i have a 14 year old son.
his father and i have not been together since 1999, when i was disfellowshipped.
we now share custody.

If there is a God.....................
by fifi40 inthis is a very sad story so please dont read if you are feeling particularly vunerable.
the week before easter, a 13 year old boy from my son and step daughters school died.
his parents are farmers and he was off on his own driving a tractor rolling a field.

Is being a Jehovahs Witness sometimes a good thing..............
by fifi40 into explain this thread i need to tell a sad and horrific story about someone that was once a friend...............for the sake of privacy i will refer to her as carol.. i met carol in the about 1990. i was not a jw (had left when i was 16 and unbaptised).
i was suffering with panic attacks, i think for many reasons but mainly because i had recently lost my dad and took it very hard.
i lived with my then boyfriend, who later became my husband in a town in south yorkshire.

Who and what would you have been if not for the JWs..............
by fifi40 inabandoned got me thinking about this is an earlier post, when he said along the lines of 'he wished he had never had thw whole jw experience'.
i also remember reading recently on another thread how one poster said their creative talents were stifled.. so now i am pondering what life woulda/coulda been like...............had i not had jw parents................in my own case i was very bright at school and excelled in maths and english subjects, but i remember zero encouragement from my parents for all that i was acheiving, or to pursue any type of career.............so maybe i was destined to be a journalist, an accountant (or maybe not)........i always liked the thought of acting, but guess that is most kids dream and i was also drawn to my fathers vocation, that of training racehorses but being the fourth child and having three older brothers my dad didnt take this very seriously.
i also love doing old houses up and interior design, which whilst i have done for my own personal use never considered as a career...................and then there is the latent writer in me just bursting with a bestseller.. oh my!!

How much have you changed since you left the JWs..........
by fifi40 inthe reason that i ask this question is for two reasons mainly.. firstly, my experience as a jw and within the various congregations i was part of, was that they were a very mixed bag.
there were those who were very devout, studious and appeared to be very humble and placid in nature.
there were those that were very judgemental of others.

Altering reality where do you stand......
by fifi40 into fill you in and explain my post....... i was raised as a jw but left (not baptised) at 16. i started studying again at 24ish and was quickly baptised and got disfellowshipped aged about 32ish.
whilst i was active as a jw i socialised plenty, but it did not involve copious amounts of drink or drugs.
during my times out i have very very occasionally smoked a little dope and have been drunk more often but by no means frequently.

Favourite quotes from films.....
by fifi40 ini love this quote and often find myself using it on the kids and my dog.
it is from cats and dogs and james earl jones doing the voice over.
"not for you young puppy, for you the war is over".
