Mr. Belly,
You're welcome. I get that all the time. There is nothing set in stone, but there are currents to our life. You are captain of your ship.
Take what you need. Leave the rest.
Happy Birthday!

p.s. But by all means, enjoy the newness with every ounce of your being! Rejoice. And as it declines and ages as it always will, know it will return...always. Always.
~Brigid
Aaaah, but to experience newness, one must know oldness, decay, putrification. One must live to die. One must die to be reborn, one must be reborn to live....

People born on this cusp absolutely fascinate me. Ever torn between traditionalism and non-conformity. It's a unique journey for you.
Born on a cusp: Capricorn-Aquarius |
Capricorn is the tenth Sign of the Zodiac; Aquarius is the 11th Sign. Those born on the Capricorn/Aquarius Cusp are involved with and interested in social institutions. They want to make them work as they were meant to work. They are humanitarians and philanthropists, the visionaries of the Zodiac. Friendship is important to them, and they have many acquaintances, in addition to their close friends. These people are also ambitious and disciplined, determined and dedicated to achieving their goals. They are practical, realistic and cautious not to get in over their heads. The astrological symbol of Capricorn is the Sea Goat. They start from the sea and ascend to the highest mountain tops, working their way upward with every step. While the path is not always smooth, their determination to succeed ensures they will persevere. The astrological symbol of Aquarius is the Water Bearer. Like the Bearer bringing water to his people, this Sign brings new ideas to the world. It represents consciousness and the flowing of ideas. Capricorn/Aquarians work hard to bring their ideas to fruition, stubbornly refusing to give up their causes. This may appear as a Capricorn trait, but it is actually representative of the Fixed quality of Aquarius. The Cardinal quality of Capricorn is seen in their ambition and their willingness to embark on new projects. These people are independent and individualistic, within the world but detached from it. While they are peace-loving and friendly, they can be narrow-minded and overcritical of those not as ambitious as they are. Capricorn is ruled by the Planet Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn (and his Greek equivalent, Cronus) was the father of many of the gods, including Zeus. Saturn is about discipline, hard work and responsibility. It rules both Capricorn and Aquarius; Capricorn is the feminine, or night aspect, and Aquarius is the masculine, or day aspect. Both Signs are concerned with achieving goals through hard work, but Aquarians work hard to achieve their visions, while Capricorns use hard work to gain authority and social status. When the Planet Uranus was discovered, astrologers assigned it as the modern ruler of Aquarius. It is from this Planet that Aquarians receive their visionary nature. Uranus is associated with progress and technology -- anything that is radical -- and it rules electricity and astrology. Some Aquarians have genius that borders on insanity, and their progressive ideas and association with anything that is different makes them dissimilar from Capricorn. Those born on this Cusp are both unpredictable and unconventional, while being interested in upholding tradition and conservative belief systems. |
i don't know if anyone else has this problem or if i'm just crazy.
i have been attempting to fade.
my family recently moved to a new area and we have never attended the kh here.
I understand that it is a very common occurance to have nightmares, etc. I had a few myself. Don't forget that you have been under brainwashing techniques for quite sometime--if you were raised in it, like I was, I liken it to hardwiring of sorts. 5 meetings, 3 times a week, little to no outside reading material or associates, the constant theme of "here, we're good, special, have the "Truth" vs. "there" bad, bad, bad--stories of those who've left falling into debauchery, AIDS, crack addiction, etc."
Give yourself time. You will heal.
Blessings,
Brigid
have i gone off the deep end with this one?
a brief conversation tonight with my jw mother, who has been ill recently, triggered this.
i called to see how she is and she warned me that she has sent me a note and hopes it won't hurt my feelings.
Merry,
Good luck. You mirror beautifully and concisely what so many of us have suffered. It helps just to get it out even though it will likely fall on deaf ears. I remember a sister who was really struggling with not having contact with her daughter who'd been disfellowshipped--she was a very faithful witness and her daughter had just moved out of the house then got DF'd. She wrote her mother absolutely heart breaking letters along the lines of yours but to her personally, begging for some human motherly contact: i.e.: "I miss so much having you in my life. I NEED someone to ask advice from", etc., etc.
The elders convinced her to "trust in Jehovah" have no contact with her beloved daughter until she'd learned repentance through this shunning process. It's a strong cult that can convince a mother with the God/dess given instinct to protect and love her children to literal death to go against that bond. It reminds me of how the Islamic cults can convince mothers to break that bond and sanction the killing of daughters who've been raped by their own brothers!
Sad...
Love and peace,
Brigid

when the last of these approved spiritual israelites cease to be men because of earthly death and a resurrection to a share in the heavenly kingdom, then the mediatorship of jesus christ will cease also.

question:.
it seems that there is a high rate of depression amongst jws.
does the jw religion cause depression, or are depressed people drawn to the jws?.
Joyal,
Are you still in? The depression gets better. When I used to think about all the wasted years (practically from birth) that I lost to the Corporation, I would get depressed or resentful: No college education, loss of family relationships, etc. But I can honestly say now that I do not regret a single moment. I truly feel my life's path has taken and continues to take me where I need to go. The dark corners only help me find the contrasting light. I really do not feel animosity to witnesses, I only want them to be honest. That's why we're here--to keep them honest.
Peace,
Brigid

I believe a little of both. And the neuroses are definitely not confined to depression. I remember when I got "out" I was amazed that the norm is not chronic illness (those weird ailments that seem to afflict witnesses), eating disorders and depression. It was such an eye opener.
It is definitely a fringe religion and therefore attracts the damaged-those who do not fit into mainstream life (at least those who convert). If you look at the fringes of all religions, you find the mal-adjusted: Islam has its extremists (ala Taliban), Christians have their Jehovah's Witnesses (again, ala Taliban), and even Judaism has their ultra orthodox--all vying for "special" recognition from God.
I'm not knocking the mal-adjusted and damaged--I'm one myself, probably. I just haven't reacted to my particular strain with trying to impose my schema upon everyone else, as do religious fanatics when challenged by an ever changing world.
Good topic. I'm kind of new here (used to be on a few years ago as Bridgette, went away for a while--good to be back in my Brigid incarnation).
