Should Jehovah's Witnesses Be Allowed to Adopt Children?
by TMS inreligion, race, sexual orientation etc.
are not legal barriers to adoption in most areas.
but knowing what you know now, if you were part of the decision-making process, would you be inclined to facillitate jw's to adopt?

Lebanon and Israel
by Silvia Plath inwow you guys really made me think with the response to my faith topic, i was just arguing with a friend today over israel and invading lebabon and he quoted all the bible scriptures to me trying to show me that, israel were the chosen people of god and how god allowed them to go in and slaughter the canninties (first recorded insident of genocide) including killing small children, and i asked is that what christ jesus died for so god could order the slaughter of babies for the jews?
so you are saying that not only is god a racist, but not a god of love as well?
if god created all of us from the dust why would he love one race more than another?

Unfortunately, your "friend" is an idiot.

Has being a Jehova's witness totally shattered your faith?
by Silvia Plath injust because the watchtower society is wrong doesn't mean that there is no god, nor does it mean there is a god.
it would interesting to now how former members have adjusted thier cosmology, or whether they are now atheists and why.
i personally see religion as a more personal matter, rather than belonging to an organization.

"i feel that there are answers.." Where are these answers? Science? The bible? My gut feeling even as a child, was that we all die alone, we are not very different from monkeys, and that our birth and death is just part of the cycle of life. There is no god, at least one that cares or that we can comprehend. I mean, does your dog or cat "understand" where his/her food comes from?

"Independent thinking". Funny stuff. Ohhh, the good times I used to have before that pesky independent thinking took over. Going out in service, worrying about everything, low-paying job, no education, waiting for the end that will never come, and on and on. Good times for sure...

How do you stop hating?
by ThomasCovenant ini'm finding it very difficult not to hate those still in.. my wife says i hate the religion but shouldn't hate the individuals.. i think she's correct but it's getting more and more difficult not to show my feelings of anger and hatred.. the thing is i was one of them for 30 years so i should have more patience, respect and sympathy.. i think they fall into two camps.
1 deluded.
2 self deluded.

Time will help. So will moving somewhere else and making new acquaintances. When I realized that the time I spent hating them was all the more time they were stealing from me, I quit hating them.

Just thought this would be of interest to share.
by meatloaf inwhy have such a large family?
when we are out together we get questions like is this a school group?, are they all yours?, are you catholic or mormon?, dont you know what causes this?
these questions give us many opportunities to share with others the hope that is in us, that children are a gift from god.

Light, dark, lager, ale, whatever. Unfortunately, I live in the mid-west. Not the good mid-west either, I live in the bible belt. At the buckle. We don't have any good brew pubs or other places to try new brews. I know a guy who owns a liquor store and he said he can get anything. I just have to tell him what to order. So, enlighten me. What's good in your neck of the woods?

Embarassed about JW relatives?
by greendawn indo you feel embarassed if people know that you have jw relatives given the many and well known strange ideas they embrace eg about blood transfusions and the belief that all non jws will be killed soon?
do you feel reluctant to admit that you have such relatives?
-
tfsm
Yeah, I'm embarrassed enough having been one myself. I don't worry too much about the relatives. Although I about had a stroke when I found out one of them was studying with the dubs. Fortunately, she woke up from her meth-induced trance and realized what a huge mistake she was making. She's back on her meds, staying away from the crazy people, and happy again.
