TELL THE ELDERS SHE'S HAD AN ABORTION
by steve2 inthis may have discussed on a previous thread.
a few years ago, a watchtower article discussed the issue of jws who are employed in the health care domain and who, during the course of their legitimate employment duties, have access to private and potentially incriminating information on other jws.
i think the article used as an example confidential information on an unmarried witness's file that documents she has had an abortion.

IT'S OFFICIAL!!! Fewer wars and less deadly
by steve2 inhere's a thought-provoking news report that you won't see quoted any time soon in any watchtower publication:
(source: the age, an australian newspaper, re-published in the dominion-post, wellington, new zealand.

JW SCHOLAR TELL US WHAT PRODUCT ARE YOU SELLING?
by steve2 inis the product you're selling one of partial acceptance of the watchtower's teachings?
in that case, which parts do you suggest we accept and which do we reject?
or is the product you're selling one of full acceptance of the watchtower's teachings?

THE MOTIVES OF GOOD JWS WHO POST ON THIS SITE
by steve2 inwhile i think it's perfectly okay, i do wonder what motivates jws to post here and especially to also express views critical of ex-jws.
is it the freudian notion of "projection": the jw who denounces something in others that he or she is also guilty of?
hence, if a jw clearly denounces an apostate's faults, it must mean the jw is really against apostasy when it might be something he or she struggles with.

WHAT'S THE PETTIEST THING YOU DID AS A JW?
by steve2 ini snitched on a sister who used to spend a lot of supposed field service time in a local cafe, but she still counted the time.
she was spoken to by a couple of elders and was never seen in that cafe again.
of all the things i did as a "loyal" jw, i feel worst about my snooping on this really nice lady.

ExJWs: Get Used To It : THE WATCHTOWER WILL NOT DIE OUT
by steve2 inthere is a precident for the jws becoming more hard-lined: the exclusive brethren.
prior to 1959 the exclusive brethren, whilst conservative, tended to have a more open outreach and even allowed some fraternizing with non-members.
however, following directions from their leaders in 1959, they suddenly slammed closed the doors, introducing beliefs such as: refusing to eat meals with anyone who was not a member and (this makes me sick) automatically breaking up families if one spouse questioned the authority of the leaders.

THE WATCHTOWER & ISLAM
by steve2 inthis question is aimed more at watchtower scholars who have impressed me with their ability to unearth amazing stuff from the distant and more recent past on statements made in watchtower publications:
1. has the watchtower ever directly critcised the islamic faith or its sacred text, the koran?
if so, what are some specific examples.

"Of course you can ask questions - even the Watchtower asks them!"
by steve2 indo you have stories - past and present - about being completely floored by jws responses to your predicament?
but there have been at least a handful of exchanges in which i knew, even before 30 seconds had elapsed that the exchange was going nowhere fast.
just over 20 years ago, my dear jw aunty had heard from another source that i had doubts about the watchtower society.

ARE JW SISTERS ALLOWED TO CARRY COFFINS?
by steve2 inrecently i was amazed to read in another thread that jw females are not even allowed to walk up and down the aisles counting those in attendance.
the poster said jw women literally "don't count" - a brilliant play on words.
i guess i had never thought about it before, but it got me wondering about all the behind-the-scene work jw females do, but their invisibility in the public arena.
