I don't want them. I just use the web. I've asked a few people I know and they don't use them either. So I'm just curious...
Do you use the Yellow Pages books? Do you keep them when they are delivered to you?

(Aw phooey! The link doesn't work! Instead, go to http://www.netdisaster.com and enter watchtower.org as the "target site". Too fun!)
Click on the various options -- there are lots of ways to destroy the Watchtower!
(My son Zach showed me this and I had to share it with you!)
Enjoy!

http://www.perimeno.ca/.
i find it the height of cognitive dissonance that an apparently faithful jw feels that he/she can 'encourage' others to stay faithful, even while running ahead of jehovah's celestial yugo chariot.
i feel that an intervention is in order.
From the site:
By "organization" I mean the entire brotherhood in all the congregations, who are expected to be obedient and loyal to the WB&T Society.
I counted 12 uses of the word "obey" (or a form of it). Hard to believe I ever 'obeyed'!

if a person murdered someone while mentally ill, should he be executed?
I oppose killing anyone as a punishment, so it's hard to separate the death-penalty question itself from a specific example of it.
There is no cookie-cutter human. We're all different from one another, and even differing from what we consider to be ourselves at various times. Hence we say, "I just don't know why I did that!" So I'm not against locking people away from general society if they are a danger to it, regardless of WHY they are a danger to it. If a person is mentally ill, it's a terrible shame and I feel for them. But if their illness causes them to be a threat to society, society is obliged to deal with it. If they can't treat the unfortunate person, they have few options but to lock him away. And doubly-sad is the fact that we understand it poorly enough that we often don't realize a person is a threat until they've already done something criminal.
I guess I'm saying I'm not opposed to applying criminal justice to what is clearly a medical problem for the protection of society. But I AM opposed to the death penalty, all the more so for a person that we may at some point be able to treat successfully.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article4567387.eceaugust 20, 2008. transfusion breakthrough as human blood grown from stem cells.
mark henderson, science editor .
vials of human blood have been grown from embryonic stem cells for the first time during research that promises to provide an almost limitless supply suitable for transfusion into any patient.
if they're smart, they'll just drop any medical counsel from their program and let the new generation dubs do what they want.
This really would be a great time to get out of the medical business, wouldn't it? They could find some way to make this "lab-grown blood" okey-dokey from a doctrinal standpoint, while continuing to condemn transfusions from donated blood. If this technology takes hold, they'll put donated blood out of business and the whole doctrine will be moot. They never have to say "we're wrong", nobody sues them, and as a side-bonus, no more JW's have to die.
"QFR: Is it appropriate for a Christian to accept laboratory-grown blood into his body?"
"The scriptures plainly tell us to 'pour out on the ground' that blood which is removed from a body. But what of blood-like substitutes that are grown in a laboratory? The Bible does not give us clear direction on this point, so it would be up to the conscience of each individual Christian to decide for himself."

as a loyal jw, i was ready for my whole world to come to an earth-shattering halt and for life as i knew it to be gone...at the hand of my loving god.
i only remember a life of grey, shades of grey punctuated by flashes of color and emotion which i quickly prayed to get through and to not be tempted by the colors i had seen.
i viewed these as a sign of spiritual weakness and dove back into studying and praying and a living death i called "spiritual paradise".
Glad your life is rich and full! Congrats!

the darkness outside.
lingering over us now.
will dubs find the light.
Death, by thousand cuts.
The lighthouse flame is put out.
Will a Phoenix rise?
(Thanks for everything Simon and Ang -- no one deserved this resource you've provided for so long. Pity there's no heaven -- you've earned your spot!)

not content with taking your shoes and confiscating your water, now the department of homeland security is gunning for your laptops.
as the washington post reported yesterday, border patrol and customs agents can now detain laptops for a reasonable period of time to review and analyze information.
they dont need probable cause under the new policy.
However, I will suffer BOTH... if it means that no one gets on my plane with the means to bring it down. I will stand in line all day... and let them search every crack and crevice (of my luggage/carryons - ) if that's what it takes.
It's an alluring viewpoint, and seems reasonable. But it brings to mind Ben Franklin's comment: "Those Willing to Forfeit Liberty for Security Will Have Neither."
Apparently this sort of question has come up before. ;-)
