Lucky for me, my last name is "biblical" so we avoided the whole bible name fiasco in my family. However, my mom's side of my family likes exotic names. I came off easy (Not to mention that I go by my middle name instead of my first now.). My cousin Masselina didn't fare too well.

Lee Lucas, of the "I escaped having a goofy biblical name" class.

On the subject of Biblical names, I know that this is an utterly lame thing to brag about on a forum like this, but:

My first (real) name is biblical, and my surname is a fairly common word (a verb) so my full name - Christian name and Surname - occurs many many times in the bible.

    How's that for being a super fine, one-up, more-biblical-than-thou Uber-Witness, eh?

My parents didn't name us after biblical names they named us after things that were popular at the time, I am Carly because my mom loved Carly Simon, My brother is Steven because in 1984 the San Diego Padres did really well with Steve Garvey on the team, and my sister is Jenna because my mom was watching Dallas at the time and Priscilla Presley's charcter was named Jenna. I will not be naming my child a biblical name either.

I would name my boys, if I had any from the following: Zadok, Obed, Uriah, Ram, Salmon or Boaz.

One of my kids is name after an uber-cool Scottish actor, and my other son has a name very similar to a character from a series of military/espionage thrillers.

No Bible names, I think it's just a form of self-righteousness thrust upon your kids. Who needs to be saddled with a 4000 year old middle eastern mouthful like Jehoash bar-Jeroboam, just because you mom and dad wanted to impress the congo with how (self) righteous they were?

On the other hand, I've always thought Linus was a cool name....

Thank god they didn't give me any, they were going to call me David. But coming from Puerto Rico, there are a lot of Jesus, María (mary), Pedros (Peter), Juan (James), José (John), Pablo (Paul) and all that, still have to meet somebody named Judas. I would name my kids Judge Taze or Freddie Franz or maybe Nathan Rutherford, yeah thats it! Nathan Rutherford, doesn't get more biblical than that!

My middle name is Joseph, but I'm not sure if it's after the O.T. or the N.T. character.

    Hi Mastodon,

It's good to see you on this forum too. I made a reply on the other site.
