what if the earth rotated backwards?

    my seven year old daughter just asked me this and I am stumped couldn't find anything on the net either.

    Can anyone out there help me answer this for her? thanks

    The objects in the sky would simply move in the opposite direction (Sun will rise in the west and set in the east) and tornados and hurricanes would rotate clockwise...

    Speaking of clockwise... clocks rotate "clockwise" because if you watch a sundial the shadow moves around in a certain direction and clocks were made to copy that motion... so I guess tornados and hurricanes would still be rotating "counter clockwise"

    Let me know when she gets around to asking about gravity.

    Uranus rotateswith its axis pointing to the sun. So one side is dark and the other side the sun travels in circles. That far away the sun looks probally like a big star.
