    hi eveyone,
i just got back from vacation. i missed reading everyones postings.
i just received a call from an elder in my congregation. he told me they received my DA letter but have not announced it yet. they wanted to meet with me. i agreed to meet with them this friday. i really want to have this meeting and was surprised but glad they called. i want to meet with the elders for a variety of reasons.
i want them to know when they see me on the street and they won't acknowledge my existance by saying hello or politely asking how i am because i simply no longer beleive this is the only true religion that i don't think thats ok. i want this meeting because i want to explain why i no longer beleive its the truth. i didn't want to refuse meeting with them because i beleive they want to meet with me to try and help me. i think their intentions are good. i would like to help them. i'll feel better knowing i tried and that i didn't pass up an opportunity to help someone get out of a cult. mainly, it will feel good !!! Do any of you have any advice on what to bring up or how to ???? jurs

    jurs,

If it makes you feel good, that is fine. However, your hopes of influencing their thinking are slim to none. I guess if you want to try, you could bring reams of copies of changes in doctrine and failed propohecy that are found in their own literature. They will probably brush that aside and not even look at it. Those are my thoughts.

    1.Meet at your home
2.Hide a tape recorder so as to tape the proceedings
    3.Have a witness present
4.Hide the witness so the elders do not know there is someone else listening to the preceedings

The reason for the witness and the recording is so you will have proof of what actually went on during the proceedings. The elders and others in the congregation are not beyond starting rumours about you and your departure from the borg.

According to the letter sent me from the Societies attorneys when I was ousted from my congregation in 1989, you can have a witness or witnesses in your behalf. The elders denied my witnesses as well as my attorney being present when they were aware of what the Societies letter stated.

    Good Luck!

Is that phrase a disfellowshipping offense?

    Hey,

Don't concentrate at all on "failed prophecies" and in fact, don't bring it up. You will only stop them from listening.

Tell them, instead about who the Christ really is, and who the Father really is. And that they don't dwell in temples/organizations but rather in our bodies, in spirit. And that he is still searching for suchlike ones to dwell in.

And if they want to, they can go to the Son and never get hungry at all, and never get thirsty at all. Because the Son will teach them all things and will never reject them.

    John 6:35
    John 6:50-58
    John 4:10, 14

    May you have peace,

Oh Aaron, puh-leeze... do you honestly think they're going to listen to a rabid fundie? Get real!

Jurs, a very good example would be the orders they gave back in the awake of '69 NOT to get an education, that it would be a waste of time. Tell them you don't plan on pushing a broom and washing windows for a living when you're 42 and the new system is still "just around the corner". Yeah, right. Frankly, I would just say to them that I don't want to be a part of an organization that preaches love and teaches hate instead.

    Good luck!

    Rcat,

I agree with your statements about kes152. Not only is he a fundy, but he is a fundy that has never been a JW. I know he is here to help us (Praise the Lord!), but he is giving advice to the wrong congregation, and very bad advice at that.

G'day kes, old son, you've just revealed you could not be a jw or even an ex. A jw knows that your suggestion is just not gonna get past first base.

FYI you need to attack the Borg itself, or you could try the Mediator teaching.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

Good advice about that tape recorder and witness. However I'm not sure I understand about having to hide it. Perhaps someone can tell me the thinking behind that.

I mean, it's a meeting in your home. Those Dubs have no authority over you anywhere - much less in your own home - unless you give it to them.

Of course, you could do it both ways: hide a recorder and don't hide a witness. Will be interested in hearing what happened.

    Good Luck,
    Frank

    Hey Jurs,
Well, I'm not sure if this will be tremendous help, but I think you should discuss some of the completely bogus prophecies, and how the bible speaks about false prophets. For example, Judge Rutherford claimed that in 1925 (i think) King David, Joseph and Solomon are supposed to be resurrected to earth in flesh, and they are Jehovah's earthly agents. He bought a property in San Diego, and put it in trust for them!!! How about all the times they said Armageddon was coming, and then retracted those statements? I have some very useful chronological info that will be very helpful in this. My e-mail address is [email protected]. If you would e-mail me, I could foward you this information. Trust me, the elders won't know what hit them!!
    My Regards,
    Joanne
