In the good old days the Borg lent the money to the congregation to build the new kingdom haul. The congregation over the years paid off the loan which was then owned not by the congregation but the Borg. Now the Borg doesn't even do the building...they just steal the down payment.

Has the OP's account been corroborated? Purchasing 75 acres is an extraordinarily large piece of property for a prospective assembly hall. I'm not saying it did not happen - but the size of the land is eye-catching - quite apart from the millions raised in donations (which is believable given the four year period (2012 - 2016).

If correct, it adds further evidence that JWs are not expanding in numbers the way they did in recent decades.

Sorry, I mis understood, you said since 2016.....

Where was this planed for? I remember back in 2010 the Conyers hall was very busy, and a long drive for us miles north of Atlanta.

Sliced, I think I was mentally awake by the time of our first assembly in Conyers. I was flabbergasted how ugly it was. Have you ever seen the Plant city Florida Hall? I was young when it was built, but it was my standard of what I expected. When they built Conyers, it was conceivable to me that they would build the hall without indoor or sufficient seating for lunch then tell us not to eat at our seat.

    75 acres is not outrageous.

There is an assembly hall in South Carolina USA which sits on 58 acres.

Most of the area is parking lot.

When I hear stories like this I have to believe it makes some people wake up. How could you not?

So is it back to the dalton convention center for these folks? Or did they attend somewhere else?

We forget that some assembly halls have two or three residences for traveling overseers and other important folk. Maybe that's why this property has 75 acres which seems like alot even with parking. The Puyallup, WA assembly hall has a few residences on the property.
