Of course, I've not been DA or DF, but my wife knows my heathen ways. She is still an active (sporadically) JW. She has a rather liberal view of things, though so we get on just fine.
As far as the custody issues, well I can tell you that my ex is a reinstated JW. She is a psycho. You don't want to go through having a kid being raised by JW's when you are an ex. The differences are very vast, especially if you have an ex who is an extemist.
