Ectopic pregnancy

Ectopic pregnancies, when detected, are usually treated by surgically removing them. I always understood that this procedure was ok for Jehovah's Witnesses. But the subject came up during pioneer school. The circuit overseer started explaining that abortions are NEVER acceptable. A human is a human as soon as conception happens. But then he asks if there is ever a reason to break this rule. So I decided to raise my hand and mention the Reasoning book under Abortion where is says it's up to the individuals involved to make a choice if it's during childbirth. I also mentioned ectopic pregnancies.

Well, this didn't go over so well with him. Oooh noooo! He said the information I had was incorrect and the it's NEVER acceptable even if it means death for the mother and that such things don't happen anymore with all the medical advancements.

I was very surprised. Especially since ectopic pregnacies have risen. If a JW woman refuses the procedure to have it removed she risks major blood loss and loss of life. I was and still am surprised by his response. I spoke to other elders about it and they either had no idea what an ectopic pregnancy was or if they did they told me it's one of those things where it's acceptable.

I didn't find ANYTHING talking about ectopic pregnancies in the Watchtower articles.

Has anyone here had an ectopic pregnancy when they were a JW? What dis the elders say?

Thats a case of a co going off on his own tangent (imagine that).

yes its acceptable for witnesses. Ectopic pregnancies are virtually never viable and would result in the death of mother and baby. Its not a “choice” for an abortion its viewed as a nonviable pregnancy and a medical complication that has to be resolved. Yes we delt with that more than once locally. Nothing has changed.

Its sad that people feel these imbeciles have to be consulted for medical decisions and even more tragic that morons like him cant even get the basics right.

In my experience, most Circuit Overseers are under educated and do not know their own doctrine. Or misunderstand what the Watchtower teaches. No surprise. Watchtower doctrine is what is in print, not what is in the distorted mind of some man who thinks he's God's mouth piece.

Yes, whoever heard of someone carrying an ectopic pregnancy to term. It's either a few cells die or mother dies too. If god cares about it he should do some miracles ...

Scary though that some might listen to this and follow it.

There is this from the Dec 2017 Watchtower

Christians would not choose to terminate a life that in time would normally result in the birth of another human being. (Ex. 20:13;21:22, 23; Ps. 139:16; Jer. 1:5)

I wonder if he has ever held a JC over the matter.

    He's wrong on all counts.

JW reasoning was that the embryo was doomed to begin with and therefore it's not actually an abortion in God's eyes (I'm paraphrasing, but I could dig up the reference later. It's from quite a while ago.)

I have no idea why (Or how) he thinks "medical advancement" would prevent this from happening today. (Other than the fact that he's obviously a moron.)

Ectopic pregnancies are very, very dangerous to the life of the woman and have to be dealt with promptly.

Exactly, if the women doesn't get medical attention for an ectopic pregnancy, death usually happens.

The guy is a dumbass! An ectopic pregnancy can never develop into a child being that is not in the womb. I bet those geniuses don't even know that. Do they even know how a baby grows and develops? Send them back to 5th grade public school and maybe they will learn something besides guys wanking off on their pillows.
