    It's funny, because I grew up listening to her music and after a while, it seemed she would always be here. Year after year, I could always count on seeing her at the Copacabana or buying her newest CD. But reality has caught up with me this time.

    She was wonderful, wasn't she? I even remember her doing a guest spot on "Sesame Street" and she was fantastic! What a bright star, who has left us with beautiful remembrances of her. I guess she and Nina Simone can get some hot jazz going in the afterlife.

    They played couple of songs on the radio by her, from the 50's, great music, great singer... I wanted to do the cha-cha. and her father wanted her to be a teacher.

    this was an interesting woman, i speak no spanish but the first time i flipped on spanish tv one night i saw this old lady GETTING DOWN, i knew she was someone with a long history

    when the article in the washington post compared her to the Arthea Franklin of Latin music it all made sense

    it was sad that castro gave her the shaft so she could not attend her dads furneral

    but in talking to a number of "latin" folks her at work she was the Bomb
