“It then (in people's minds) becomes their only option to live within a group that constantly preaches hate toward them..”

    Yup.

It's like a guy finding out that he's one-eighth black, but still feels like he has no choice but to keep living with his white supremacist family.

If that isn't a perfect recipe for a total nervous f**king breakdown, I don't know what is...

Yes, but like any of the other situations ... people can chose to live in misery when they don't really need to for different psychological reasons.

Again, it's not to condone the situation or to say it's good or fair, it's just a statement of 'how it is'. People have a tendency to settle with the current state, however unpleasant that may be. Change and the unknown is sometimes scarier than the evil we are already familiar with.

If you are in a shitty job and the boss treats you like crap, you have a choice. You can leave. You may need to put effort into making the option a reality (education, job hunting etc...) but to sit back and simply say "it's all so unfair" while it may be true and accurate isn't going to be solve anything.

Having other people say "yeah, you're boss is horrible, you are screwed" while also accurate, isn't going to solve your problems. Neither will saying that "we should stop him" even if there isn't a way to do this (assuming no employment laws have been broken).
