Another incredible catch from a You Tuber, this time Jane Doh, who caught Watchtower fooling us again, this time over the reasons Beth Sarim was really built.

Of course we knew Rutherford lived in Beth Sarim during the winter (ostensibly because of his poorly chest🙄). However even we didn't guess he blatantly got the poor JWs, or Bible students as they were, to cough up from the proceeds of their book sales enough to buy him a "Cali-fornication" mansion (for he & the girlfriend😜) With absolutely no pretence (at the time) it was for the "Ancient worthies".That came later...

How did she know? Because at the time it was built, in the 1920s, watchtower had no belief that anyone was to live on a "Paradise Earth" - they had not even formulated the concept of a Paradise Earth yet for the Ancient Worthies to live on and believed all JWs were to live in Heaven. In fact It wasn't until 1931 that they came up with a Paradise Earth at all! Jane Doe caught this little nugget and she further explains that it was in the 1939 book Salvation that they first used the excuse of the "Ancient Worthies" resurrection to paradise earth as the actual reason they built Beth Sarim. Completely contradicting earlier statements and forgetting they didn't have a paradise earth belief when they built it.

This from Watchtower (paraphrased) : In 1939 the book "Salvation" stated "Concerning Beth Sarim or "house of princes" the purpose of building it was that there might be tangible proof to the world that there were people on earth at this time with faith that the Lord will raise the faithful men of old to rule as princes over the earth."

Belief in a paradise earth is found in Zion's Watch Tower from Russell's day. It wasn't new in the 1920s/1930s. What was new was seeing the Great Multitude [Great Crowd] as an earthly 'class.' Prior to 1935 they believed them to be a secondary heavenly class. So in this case there really isn't a lie.

I'm with vienne on this one. The maker of the video is simply wrong. Her mistake is reading the 75 Yearbook and the Proclaimers books and assuming they are correct.

Yeah it's this type of 'research' that undermines the real stuff. Belief in the ancient worthies returning was already a thing in 1918, espoused in the Millions Now Living May Never Die talk.

I watched about 5 min. Of one her videos once and turned her off. She is a bitter old lady with with nothing better to do than find former obscure wt beliefs to nitpick about.

I think the real behind the curtain agenda of Rutherford deeding the property to the ancient worthies was to established the two proprieties as religious compounds so they wouldn't occur any property taxes.

...and of course living in these lavished appointed homes.

He lived with has mistress when separated from his wife, he had Cadillacs to drive and illegal booze during prohibition.

He lived a life of a crooked hypocritical religious charlatan American style. $$$

This is the spiritual leader, (guided by Jehovah's holy spirit) of the JWS who gave the name to the organization and one the biggest religious con artists that created a religoius institution that still exists today.

    God people are stupid.

When Rutherford aggressively took over the Watchtower Corporation he knew he would be immersed in power, privilege and money.......why ?

Because Russell had used him for legal help in acquiring other businesses, so Rutherford had inside information of the held finances of the WTS.

I think Russell didn't even list him as one of the directors of the organization in his will.

The twisting and spinning of doctrines continues on, but always regulated to support the organization and its operations at all costs and I mean all costs $$$

Br. Russell's Studies in the Scriptures books taught that Christ began reigning as king in the 1870s (in 1874?) and that his presence had begun, and that human society in some ways was already getting better due to Christ's reign. Russell taught the 1,000 year portion of Christ's reign would start in 1914 (or maybe shortly afterwards). Russell taught that most people on Earth would survive through Armageddon (those survivors were said to be separate from the great cloud and 144,000 classes); that Armageddon was the destruction of the institutions of false religion (not the vast majority of the people of those religions), and of human governments, and of corrupt greedy commerce. Russell taught the Jews would gain a home and a nation within the land which was once ancient Israel. Those ideas were also taught by Rutherford for a number of years in the early 1920s.

Note what the book called Millions Now Living Will Never Die (Edition of 1920 and authored by Rutherford) (at http://www.strictlygenteel.co.uk/millions/millions6.html#page94 ) in the transcript from page 97 of the book says: "Based upon the argument heretofore set forth, then, that the old order of things, the old world, is ending and is therefore passing away, and that the new order is coming in, and that 1925 shall mark the resurrection of the faithful worthies of old and the beginning of reconstruction, it is reasonable to conclude that millions of people now on the earth will be still on the earth in 1925. Then, based upon the promises set forth in the divine Word, we must reach the positive and indisputable conclusion that millions now living will never die.
Of course, it does not mean that every one will live; for some will refuse to obey the divine law; but those who have been evil and turn again to righteousness and obey righteousness shall live and not die."

Rutherford and the men after him exploited the basic belief in the bible which existed in the general public to attract attention to the literature the WTS published, it worked , end of story.

He was nothing more than a crooked charlatan who was a theological apostate sinner/false prophet for profit.

How is that these men expressed so many false doctrines but they still said that god had solemnly chosen them ?
