I'd imagine that each side is guilty of attacking the opposite side's wrong-doing whilst brushing their own side's wrong-doing under the carpet. To say otherwise would be to insert one's head into one's own rectal cavity, I think.

But one side is waaaay more guilty of doing that. Examples I've heard this week:

"What Tump said happened 10 years ago, we shouldn't be bothered about things like that ... now what about Bill?!?!?" (20, 25 years ago? actual current candidate and fresh allegations vs already litigated?)

Also claims of "so what, who cares if he did assault women?" (WTF?)

Also, the right is mis-characterizing history & accusing Clinton of rape. No one (political surrogates) is accusing Trump of rape although a few news-reports have covered his upcoming pre-trial hearing for his accused / alleged rape of a 13yr old girl.

The two sides are simply NOT comparable but I understand the Trump camp's attempt to make anyone pointing out the flaws of their candidate equal to "being attacked viciously" to try to justify his endless hate filled conspiracy theory diatribes.

Also claims of "so what, who cares if he did assault women?" (WTF?) - these are very bad, in fact totally shocking. It's almost proof that there are people that allow themselves to be brainwashed by their chosen political leader.

the right is mis-characterizing history & accusing Clinton of rape. No one (political surrogates) is accusing Trump of rape although a few news-reports have covered his upcoming pre-trial hearing for his accused / alleged rape of a 13yr old girl - TBH, I'm ignorant of Clinton's and Trump's pasts. I'd imagine Clinton had more than one affair. Something tells me that Bill getting his fingers wet with Lewinsky wasn't one moment of madness in an otherwise faithful marriage. Trump should stand trial for rape/abuse. He shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. In a sane world, Trump's wrong-doing would end his ridiculous foray into politics. I think Trump should do what he does best: run tacky casinos ... badly.

The two sides are simply NOT comparable - they're not morally equivalent, certainly. Trump is way badder than either Bill or Hillary.

    nonjwspouse,

VI- why is it I keep hearing a form of this:

...we might have to emigrate north; if we can make it over Canada's wall that is.

Why north instead of emigrating south?

Should this be called racism? If not, why not?

In my years I have really disliked come candidates that won, but yet I don't claim to pack my little bag and run away from home if I don't get my way. I deal with it, speak up about what happens that I consider wrong. I live in a free country that I love. To claim to plan to emigrate if your candidate loses, is to lose credibility as a emotionally mature citizen. Put on your big boy pants and learn, debate, engage in political races, run for an office if you believe you have better solutions. THAT is what American freedom is about, not running away.

I don't get your comparison of emigrating to Canada as being somehow racist.

As to putting on my "big boy pants", "be emotionally mature" and "run for office" what's the point of that if psychopaths like Trump win? Remember, Adolf Hitler's Nazi party was elected into office. It was the fools who did not leave.

Why don't Trump sue for defamation , attack on his character????? The women that have come forward.

    Here's why.

Right now, the statute of limitations has expired for many of these incidents and the people involved would have difficulty suing HIM for what they allege that he did. But, like Cosby, he's not kept his trap shut, he's full of his own self importance and genuinely believes he is all powerful and untouchable so he's insulted and maligned them. That does give them cause to sue for defamation of character. Likewise, he could sue them for the same.

(read the NY times response to his threat to sue them, it's fantastic).

    So why won't he sue?

Discovery baby!! Everything is on the table. Those apprentice tapes? Everyone get's to see them and who knows what else. And if he hides things and it comes out later? Big penalties.

So, he's kind of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. That's why he won't take action because it ultimately opens him up to more action and having to expose evidence that likely provides the proof to many of the claims.

All he can do is huff and puff, insult, wave his abnormally tiny deformed little piggy hands and waffle out of his fat ugly punchable fat face.

And die ... continue to die in the polls and take the whole rat infested ship down with him.

I don't get your comparison of emigrating to Canada as being somehow racist - nonjwspouse pointed out that people often talk about emigrating to Canada if Trump wins but never to Mexico. The largest ethnic group in Canada is northern European (white), like America.

Mexico is more of a mix with people of colour (Spanish + meso-American) forming the majority.

Is choosing a 'white' country over a non-white one an example of racism?

The Left has been saying all along that the Right completely lost their f**king minds when Obama was elected.

I think a strong argument could be made that a Trump candidacy is what happens when said mental health problem goes untreated for eight years... :smirk:

BTW, haven't parts of Canada started pouring wall foundation concrete already?

You know, just in case? :smirk:

Trying to make every choice people make into "racism" does no favors to work against actual incidents of racism. What's next, people are racist if they don't eat other-ethnic food at least twice a day?

    People simply like the familiar.

Canada is much closer to the US culturally, shares the same language (although Canadian English is closer to proper English than American), and has a rather open border which allows free movement of people in both directions. It has low crime, good healthcare and similar industries.

Another factor of course is that it was a previous destination for people wanting to escape a sad and embarrassing time in US history - the Vietnam war.

There are lots of reasons we wanted to move to Canada ahead of Mexico and "has more white people / fewer brown people" wasn't on the list. Why assume it's on the list for anyone else?
